We've gone in early Feb twice with much success. Thinking about moving the trip to early Dec this year for MVMCP. I've been getting very mixed feedback when reading various threads on Pop Warner week, etc..... "avoid it if you can"..... "we didn't notice them"..... yet Len/UOG shows Pop Warner week as a 1 compared to the week after Thanksgiving as a 3. When we've gone in early Feb, it's been a 3.

I'd like to experience a 1 (and MVMCP). Everyone says early Dec is "light crowds", but are they comparing it to summer (one person actually did), or are they comparing it to Jan/Feb?

My fellow DISers who have gone in early Feb and early Dec--- I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts on crowd comparisons.

When I was younger I went to WDW twice in early December (right after Thanksgiving) and the crowds were great - plus you have the parks all ready for the holidays. It's beautiful! I would do it every time if I was not a teacher. I have not visited during February, but many northeast schools have part of the month off for midwinter break, and a lot of people head to WDW. I would think the crowds would be much larger then.

went first week in dec.2004 book pop century. pop was over book with pop warner football and cheerleader upgrade to caribbean beach resort same price $54.00 per night for 6 night. king room it was great. no body at parks it was the must macical time ever. :cool1:

Our family went this past Feb. and it was busier that I expected!! We had a few days when it was not busy but... We later found out when we were there that Mardi Gras was going on AND Daytona 500 was also going on at that time. So I was smart this time!!! Mardi Gras is Feb. 28th and the Daytona 500 is Feb. 19th!!! Does anyone else know what could be going on the first two weeks of Feb.?? :flower:

I believe Presidents weekend is the weekend of Feb 18th. next year. Thank you for the reply :flower:

We have been during Pop Warner/Cheerleader week and found it very quiet. We were staying ar AKL one time and another time BC. So perhaps that is why we didn't notice tons of kids. The one big drawback for us during this time was that Cirque de Soleil (?) is closed two weeks prior to Christmas for a break. This year we are trying 11/30 -12/4 so we can still see the show. IMHO I don't notice a ton of difference between a 1 or a 3 week, there is still people there and if you go during peak hours then you may have to wait dor the most popular rides.

Based on recent experience, I would put early Dec. as a 5, or maybe one step higher---it definately has picked up in the last few years...anyone showing it as a 1 doesnt have a clue. January, and Feb. thru about the 10th, is still fairly moderate, but that time this year in Feb. was a 4 or 5. Have fun no matter when you go...................... :cool1:

we are considering the same switch, from Feb to Dec. What are the park hours in Dec (week after Thanksgiving as compared to Feb (last week of value season)?

We went in early February 2004 (3rd-12th) and the parks were practically empty until our last couple of days. This year we went the 6th-13th and I couldn't believe how crowded it was! We still had a great time, but it was much more crowded than last year.

Next year I'm looking at going in January. I'd like to do December, with the decorations and MVMCP and all, but it seems the past couple of years I've read a lot of reports about how much more crowded early December has become.

I'm interested in hearing more first-hand experiences too! :sunny:
