My bf and I are headed to the POP to celebrate my 40th from Sept 21-27-I have been waiting for months, but with all these hurricanes-I am getting nervous. Anyone been there during a hurricane??? I plan to bring the ponchos etc...We could cancel as we have not gotten the park tickets yet......Any thoughts. I say lets go rain or bust!!!!:confused3

We are leaving Tuesday, no worries here, I'm all packed. Expect about a 30% chance of rain. To my knowledge weather has only shut down the parks once and Disney always puts safety first.

The good news is the lines are almost non-existant when it's raining. Bring rain gear, enjoy the drama of the weather (should there be drama...Orlando has some beautiful thunderstorms).

We're also going w/out kids for my 40th. Another couple are along for the ride on 9/11 for 4 days...golf, spa, horses cirque and a whole bunch of food. The hurricanes had us pretty worried until yesterday, and now it looks as if it won't effect us at all. Good for us, not so much for the Gulf Coast. Fortunately for us We're hoping a lot of people get scared off and the parks are empty. We don't have much free time for rides so the shorter the lines the better. We'll see what happens.

wish us luck!!

I will be there on Monday 15 Sept, the same time as last year. The crowds were very small and we did have a thunder storm in the afternoon (typically Florida).

But I am not worried about Hurricanes. Got my ponchos packed and ready to face a sunny or rainy adventure!

I had friends at a scrapbooking event at the Contemporary during Hurricane Charley. They were told to stay in the convention room and not to venture outside. They could hear a lot of wind and such but felt perfectly safe. Since they couldn't go out for food, Disney brought the food to them along with some tv's on carts so they could catch the news. Disney keeps on top of the weather and does everything they can to ensure your safety. If weather threatens, just listen to what Disney tells you to do.
I recently read a blog about some people visiting Disney during Fay. They felt safe and enjoyed the parks with fewer people. Just bring a raincoat - just in case. Just follow Mitzicat's advice in her post.

I say most def go out there and brave the weather. Most of the rides are indoors and in turn they are still running! So many people will stay away or only go out for alittle while. My suggestion is get out to the parks early then head back and spend some quality time in the room;)
