Going from Platinum AP to Gold AP: Still Get Renewal Rate?

Currently, we have Platinum AP's. Are we allowed to switch to Gold AP's and still get the pass renewal rate? If so, can this only be done over the phone?

During the renewal period, you can upgrade/downgrade to any level of Annual Pass you are entitled to and keep the renewal savings. For DVC Annual Passes, you can only renew by calling Member Services.
