Hello All ~ My family has stayed at all the mods at least once [CBR 3x]. While we really enjoy them, I think we missed out on the Disney themes of the Values. My kids will be 9 and 15 for our next Disney trip [and lots of Universal too]. Do you think we'll have a good time at a Value resort after only staying at Mods? Thanks! Sandra

I was just about to post a similar question. I currently have CSR booked, but my reasoning is different. I am considering downgrading to a value to save a few bucks. Honestly all we use the resort for is the clean room and the swimming pool. My kids would survive without a slide. Anyone ever downgrade? Can you share any experiences?

Our family LOVES ASMov! Also when we were picking the hotel for our next stay, DD's vote was to stay at POP. We've stayed at deluxes, mods, and values and have yet to have a bad stay.

Make sure to get a preferred room at whatever value you choose and you will be fine. Go in with the knowledge that the rooms will be smaller and that there will be no recreational options and no sit down restaurant.

BTW the bus system at the values is 1000x's better than CBR!

Happy planning!

I have stayed at Poly, AKL and all the mods with my family of 6 (two rooms) But when my oldest dd and i go by ourselves, like we are in Jan ,we stay at POP and love it! It is a really neat resort and the food court is better than most of the mods.

We usually stay at the Deluxes, and downgraded to a value(ASMu) for financial reasons on our past trip. Our kids had a blast. The only downside, I would say is that our DS is 3 and our DD was 6 and waiting in the lines for the bus at night on the way home and coralling them and the stroller on the bus ride home was a pain a couple of times. But your kids are a bit older so no stroller necessary!

Thanks.

My sister stayed at the POP and loved it.

I didn't really like CSR. The pool was nice and we are pool people. But we do the water parks for the great slides!

Now I can't decide on POP or an ALL STAR?

I think POP would be nice for the location. We are BIG fans of CBR and it's so close!

Blessings, Sandra

Here's the major things you won't have with a value resort. A hot tub, a sit down restaurant, a free refrigerator. The pools aren't themed as nicely as the moderates but they are functional.

Between the All Stars and Pop Century, the biggest difference is the bus service. All Stars can share a route (usually in my experience) while Pop Century has it's own dedicated route.

And with Pop Century, it's really not feasible to get to Caribbean Beach by foot. I believe there is a way but it's not anything I would attempt.

I've never stayed, but I've heard that Pop is the better choice. The dedicated bus would be a big selling point for me :-) ASMu was great, but the lines and the multiple stops at each of the All-stars can get annoying.

If cash were really an issue for us, I'd probably be fine going back to the Values. We stayed at ASMo, and really enjoyed our stay there. But our most recent trip to CSR was so wonderful, we'd have a hard time not going back there. The primary reason for us was the bus service. No comparison. Not even close. In 14 days at CSR, we had to wait more than five minutes for a bus exactly two times, and that included at night after Extra Magic Hours. That alone was worth the extra money as far as we were concerned.

Buses, sit-downs and fridges are no issue to us. We like renting a car so we have freedom to dine off-site [Disney food is a little blan for us] and we like the freedom of a car. My dd is on permanent meds that require refrigeration, so Disney provides the fridge for free. If we dine at Disney, we are fine with food courts. We've done just about every Disney restaurant, including character meals.

I think we'd like POP Century. Thanks all! S

We had stayed at Mods 3 times and switched in 2005 to All Star Sports to save $. We loved it, especially our boys who were 4 and 6 at the time. We have found that the Mods were more lush and landscaped, which was nice when the kids were small and we needed more downtime at the resort. As the kids have grown, 8 and 6 for our trip next month, we spend little to no time at the resort. As long as there is a pool for a late night dip....we're good. The food at Sports was just as good, if not better than POR and CBR.

Our Jan 2008 trip is at Pop. We just wanted to give it a try, I'm sure we'll enjoy it too, for as much as we'll be there.

With the $ we save between POR and Pop for our next trip, we're flying instead of driving. YIPPEEEE!
