Going during the 2nd and 3rd week of November?

Yep! To what karebear1 said! Sorry I wasn't clear!

We were there Nov 3 to 13 in 2005, we noticed the crowds did get bigger as we stayed. If Jersey week was the first week we were there, we did not notice any huge crowds. We left the Saturday of Super Soap Weekend, but the Friday was also Veterans day. We had weather in the mid 70's to 80's the whole time.

FP's the first week were about 30 to 60 minutes the 1st week, by Friday the 12th they were 3 hours at MK.

We still have the same dates in mind for this year.

Hello! Me, Hubby, 9 y/o daughter 9 y/o neice and 8 y/o nephew will be in the
World Nov 5 - 9th.... we will be touching Jersey Week....any idea on estimated wait times for popular rides? I am not too worried about crowds, because I realize anything is better than going during Spring break.
This will be my neice and nephew's 1st time at Disneyworld (and on an airplane) I want this trip to be special and stress-free for them.

Thanks for your input!

We will be there Nov 2-9 and getting MARRIED on the 6th. :)

November is a lovely time to go. Not a particularly crowded time of year and weather more temperate.

This will be my 5th Super Soap Weekend. The other parks are more reasonable on Saturday and Sunday. Even though MGM is crazy, the attractions may be deserted. We're all stalking soap opera stars!!!!

Welcome to the boards Olsona.
This will be my first year at SSW and I can't wait. Any tips you can give me, must do's or don'ts. Thanks, I appreciate it.

we went the second week of Nov last year (it was not jersey week) we couldn't believe the low crowds, absolutely gorgeous weather, and some christmas decorations up....it is our new favorite time to go....this year we are going oct 29-nov 7 to avoid jersey week, we are crowd-a-phobes!

we are skipping MNSSHP and going to have a nice dinner somewhere the 31st. (we did MSNSSHP the first year on the 31st and the rides were walk on, we were spoiled! i hear the place is nutso now :bounce: )

the question of the week prior to Thanksgiving, I couldn't believe how crowded MK was the sat before. we left after an hour, just 2 days prior we almost had the place to ourselves...(15 min Splash wait at noon!)

have a great trip, can't wait to start making ressies....

This will be my fourth SSW and I can't wait. As olsona said MGM will be crowded, but the rides/attractions really won't be. If you can handle cutting through the crowds there should be a minimal wait on the rides/attractions. Except Millionaire b/c they do a special Soap Star version Sat. & Sun.

DisneyForLife: My best advice is to get up early and get to the MGM by 6:30-7:00 am the lastest. While the park is not open at that time the lines start forming. You need fast pass tickets to actually meet the stars. They usually organize it by Soap (GH, OLTL, AMC) and you wait in line for the Soap of your choice. Then once you get to the fast pass station you can choose which star you'd like to meet. Only one fast pass per person then you can get on the back of the line to wait for another fast pass. I think MGM opens around 8:00 am and they let people form the lines inside the park. An additional note is that the WDW buses do not start running until 7:00 am so if you want to get there earlier than that you might want to get a cab or rent a car. Let me know if you have any other questions. :goodvibes

Hi Kelly-

I think that as long as you are out of there by the Sat. before Tday, you will be fine. Yes, the Jerseyites and Soap fans may impact crowd levels some, but I really doubt you will see anything along the lines of summer or spring break crowds. Be flexible in your planning, prepare to park hop if need be--but I would always give that advice.

We were in Disney 10/27-11/10 last year and noticed nothing of NJ people or soap fans, other than walking past lines to meet soap stars at MGM. The weather was lovely and it was a great time to visit overall.

If you want real detailed crowd forecasts, you can check out http://www.touringplans.com/BestDays.htm from the folks who write the Unofficial Guide. Don't make yourself crazy though, overall Nov before Thanksgiving week is a very nice time to visit WDW.

HTH,

I've been there numerous times during Jersey Week and although it can become crowded it is managable if you've done your research and you have a good attitude. I would suggest you try to arrive at park openings or use EMH and get all the things done the kids want to do first. They have a cute guide for children(Birnbaum's) and they can read it and fill in all the things they'd like to see and do and you can have some kind of plan in advance. That way you won't be as stressed just looking at the park maps just trying to figure out what to do. We arrive on the 5th also and even though my DD is 14 she has her guide book already and will be making her list of must dos like she does for every trip. Have fun! Maybe we'll see you there. We'll be at BCV, how about you? :earsboy:

Thanks Jen, I would never have thought of getting to MGM by 6:30 - 7:00. Wait til I tell my sister that one. But... what if we didn't want an autograph, there would be no need to get there so early if we didn't need a fastpass, right?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, that's correct. If you were not interested in meeting the stars in person for an autograph you would not need fast passes. Then you could get to the park around 9:00-9:30 am. They usually post the event schedule on abc.com a few weeks before SSW. You could print the map and see exactly when the special shows were happening. Happy to help!! This is one of my favorite events at Disney and I learn new tricks every year.

Thank you so much for that info, I am a planner so it has helped a lot. Now if November would only get here.

Looks like you pulled up a pretty old thread! First don't worry too much about Jersey Week. We have been to WDW during Jersey Week and the crowds were very managable with a good touring plan. Second Jersey Week is an unofficial time when a lot of people from Jersey go to WDW. It is typically the week of Election Day. I am guessing this year it is the week of November 5. I believe many schools in NJ have three days of school off this week. They get one day off for Election Day and 2-3 days off for a state teacher's convention. Go, have a great time, and enjoy the weather! :wizard:
