We are leaving Sunday morning to spend a week at WDW :cool1:
We are so excited - I think my kids have been packed for the past 2 weeks now. Our first tirp as a family (and my first trip to WDW also) was in August 2009. It was a last minute decision and we did not tell the kids. We drove 16 hours under the guise of going to visit their cousin in Washington DC. It was so much fun surprising them. My 8 year old made the comment - "man mom there are a lot of Florida lic. plates here."
It is such an amazing place - I think we started planning our next trip while we were on our first.
We stayed at the Contemporary the first time. This time we are staying at POR - my DH is concerned it may be too big and we might have to wait a long time for the bus - I would love to hear what anyone has thought of the resort.

I hope you have a great time!! :goodvibes I remember when I was a kid my first trip I was 11. My parents told my brother and I that they were saving up to go when I was 8 1/2. I had no idea what to expect (except for what my Mom told us from the planning books she read as my parents had never been either) but for 2 1/2 years I swear I dreamed of Disney every night :).

You will love POR! The themeing and landscape is so nice. Now, the rooms aren't as nice as most deluxe resorts (double beds not queens :( ) but they're not terrible either and are themed nice (I've stayed in Alligator Bayou and the Mansions). The bus system gets on my nerves (although my parents say when they go it doesn't bother them, I guess it's all in your attitude and perspective [and crowd levels while you're there]). The bus picks up from the main stop (by the lobby/gift shop) and then circles around to the other stops. When we stay at POR we drive to most of the parks if we're far away from the main stop, I actually enjoy getting into one of the 20 cars even in the parking lot on an EMH night and having peace and quiet back to the room :thumbsup2 (although my issue isn't so much with picking up it's the HUGE line waiting for you when you leave the parks at night and then riding all over the resort before you get to your stop). But again, if you have to ride the bus it isn't that bad most of the time. Some trips we've had no problems at all and can get on most busses that come around the first time and at night they'll have a steady stream of busses coming to help with the huge line (sometimes) at park closing.

Definitely take the boat to DTD from POR. Your kids will love it!

Have a fabulous trip!!
