Going back to school at 35+!

Well I just finished my 2nd full semester in nursing school, 4 more too go......if they get much harder, not sure how I will handle it! What does not help is that the school I am going to started changes just as I started..........and the growing pains are HORRIBLE!! I will make it and graduate October 08 at 35. DH keeps laughing at me when I talk about our long Disney trip when I graduate, as if I am joking-doesn't he understand yet???:rotfl2:

Way to go everyone, it is nice to know there are others out there that understand, and know the same stresses!

Love this thread!

I just graduated from nursing school this past May and am about to take my nursing boards. I start my career as a Labor and Delivery nurse next week!

PLUS, I'm celebrating my 40th birthday in WDW in January!!!

I am READY for my 40's! Life is good.

This thread has been amazing to read :cheer2:

I'm 32 and in less than 8 weeks I will have completed my MBA with so far a 4.0. :cool1: I only wish I hadn't waited so long ;)

I have a DS(13) and work fulltime as an analyst for a large corporation.

Life is good :cloud9:

I am so happy to have found this thread!!! I am 38 years old and have been thinking about going back to school for nursing also. So many here are in nursing programs....I have looked into it at our local community college and they have pre-requisites too. I have also heard that you need to be accepted to nursing programs....but then I met a woman who is in school PT for nursing while she works full time at a job not related to nursing. I have 2 kids so I would need to start PT. Maybe I should take the pre-req's one or two at a time? Does anyone have any advice?
My kids are 4.5 years old and almost 2 years old and I stay home full time. My 4.5 year old will be in a full time pre-school this Fall. I am wondering if I could set up some sort of childcare PT at the college? Any thoughts?
Like I said, any advice appreciated. :thumbsup2

I'm changing my career path after 15 years working as a real estate agent/property manager.......I have recently enrolled in a nursing program at a great college here in Michigan. How many out there have changed careers this late in their lives? I'm nervous but excited about this!

I think it is a great move.... I was a Paramedic until I was 22 then finance - then owned a mortgage and real estate company and at the ripe age of just around 30 went back to school and I am not in the information services industry and own a company with partner. School was fun and finished with a Ph.D. in computer science though it took me a few years.

The best advice I ever got when I was contemplating going back to nursing school was: JUST DO IT!

If I can do it as a homeschooling mom of three kids, you can do it too! It's a sacrifice, but it's worth it.

Contact your college today and see what pre-req's you can start with. You'll be glad you did!
