Going back to resort midday? How much time?

It's been so hot the past week we've just been done with the parks full stop after about lunchtime! The heat and noise get too much and I want to escape back to the comfort of our air conditioned, quiet room!!

We stayed at the BC last year so taking a break was a bit easier than at some resorts. Just a few minutes walk to EP and a little longer walk 15-20 minutes to HS. We get park hoppers so typically either our morning or evening will have one of those two parks making the transit time shorter. We only go to AK once and MK never took longer than 30 min for us last time. We're up for EMH and rope drop every day. If we had older kids who stayed up late we might limit the midday breaks but it works great for us. Plus then the pool is often not busy since most people are at the parks then.

Quick question about the break. We will be there in two weeks and plan on mid day break. One park in morning, different park later. Do the parks ever not admit anyone later because they are at capacity?

When we took our first trip with our son, everyone recommended the midday break. It went awful!!! It took 15 min to get back to the front of the park, then travel time to the resort (30+ min), then the walk back to the room (10+ min). Half the time my son fell asleep during the process or wouldn't sleep at all, totally defeating the purpose. Then we had to repeat the whole process in reverse!

Not only did it waste a ton of park time, but it added a lot of unnecessary walking that left us feeling more tired after our break. Now we rest in the parks and just stay as long as we can. Some days we rope drop and stay until afternoon and some days we arrive late and stay through fireworks. My son naps in the stroller. And we are so much happier!!!

If you do plan for a midday break, I would plan on at least 5 hours. You will easily lose at least 2 hours in transit and I would want at least 3 rest hours to make it feel worthwhile.
