SUNDAY 2/26
Today we all slept in as much as we could before heading downstairs to breakfast by 9:00. We had an Aloha Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch at the PCH Grill. Being right in our hotel, this was very convenient.
We finished up there about 10:20 and returned to our room for a bit before heading out to Downtown Disney. We took some time here to finally shop. Its been tough walking through here over and over during the trip and not really doing any shopping, but knowing we had time for that today, we tried not to spend park days shopping.
We first visited the World of Disney where we bought most of our souvenirs. I then had to make another stop in Marcelines Confectionery. How could I not?
Other than that I think we only went to the Lego Store for the kids. The World of Disney pretty much has it all.
We then returned to our room for some down time before heading out again. If you wondered why the kids are wearing Celtics sweatshirts today it was because we were going to see our Celtics play the Lakers.
This worked well because when we were out here over the summer we got to see our Red Sox play the Angels. I really dont plan these trips around sporting events (if I did, we would have seen the Mighty Ducks by now
maybe next time.
)
We left the PP around 2:30 for the 4:30 game. We werent sure how traffic would be, or if we would get lost. I have to give DH credit here, he did really well with the directions. We made it to the Staples Center fairly quickly and parked in a lot just a quick walk away.
We were in the Staples Center by 3:15, spent some time walking around and checking it out. This is a really nice sports stadium. If anyone happened to see Regis & Kelly on Friday, 3/3, he did a piece on this particular game and he even he noted what a beautiful place it is. The best part of it is there is an outdoor cafe type place upstairs where you go out and have a great view of the city, including the famous Hollywood sign.
While I'm not much of a basketball fan, this game was actually interesing...even if I spent the first half celebrity watching. We saw Regis, Hines Ward, Jerome Bettis, Dyan Cannon, Jim Carey, Donald Sutherland (we think, LOL) and of course Jack Nicholson.
We also saw Woody Harrelson on the jumbotron, but couldn't find him, and I hear Raven Symone was there too. The game came down to the last second and we won 112-111.
Here is Regis, walking around the corner of the court at the bottom of the stairs in the dark suit jacket
And Jack, right below the referee who is in the midlde of the picture. Jack is the person leaning forward.
I'm such a tourist!
After the game was over at 7:30 we walked back to our car and sat in some traffic for a while. Once we got through that, we were on our way back to DL. We arrived back close to 8:30. We hadnt eaten much at the game (1 pretzel and 1 bucket of popcorn between us), because we had eaten so much for breakfast. We decided we wanted something to eat, but not a whole meal (breakfast really filled us up). Since ESPN didnt work out the previous night, we thought we might try again, hoping Sunday would be better than Saturday. Luckily, we got in with no problem. Here we had a few appetizers and got to watch the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.
This was a nice end to our day, but before long it was back to PP for our last night here. Tomorrow we would be on our way...but luckily with a late flight we still had another day of fun ahead of us.
