Been a very bad couple of years. Lost my job, lost my sister to cancer last year. Really been feeling like we need a vacation. And today we made the decision that we can definitely go to WDW in the fall. I am soooo excited.

Feeling a little bittersweet because my sister:littleangel: and I went to disney a lot together but I know she would never want me to not go.

So our countdown officially begins. I can't wait. I LOVE DISNEY!!!!

Going to find a way to honor my sister while I am there....just have to figure out how. Any suggestions????

I really understand what your feeling. The year we lost my mom, my uncle dies 2 weeks after her and then my aunt 2 months later. I looked at my husband and said we need some happiness in our life. We took our 2 sons to WDW. You go thru a little guilt feeling that you can't be happy, but I do feel it was so good for our family to enjoy our time together. Was there a favorite ride or activity your sister really liked to do? Maybe you can send up a Mickey balloon with a message to her. Just a thought.
Take care, sorry for you loss. Enjoy your family time.

I love this suggestion. Buy a Mickey helium balloon, go to one of your favorite attractions that you shared with your sister, and let the balloon go. It will signify letting go of the grief, not all the wonderful memories you shared together.

I lost my own sister to colon cancer in '96, she was only 45. Blessings to you.

I like that idea and think thats what I am going to do. My sister was 30 at diagnosis and died july 13th at the age of 35 from breast cancer.

We were both huge disney fans. We did our last trip together in 07. Someone gifted her a 7 day trip at the Grand Floridian for her and her family and we couldn't help but book our own trip so we could be there too! We went nearly every year as children and one of the things we shared a love for was the Polynesian.

Thanks for the idea....:lovestruc

So sorry to hear of this terrible loss. I don't know if you'd find this silly or not, but why not find your sister' fave character and have them kiss the balloon to send off to her. Just a thought :)

have a wonderful time

I'm so sorry for your loss but please don't release a balloon. They get into our ecosystem and can cause serious damage to any animal who might eat it or get tangled up in the strings. Why not get a nice photo of her, make a mat out of it, laminate it and have all the characters sign it for you. Then you have a wonderful memory of her and she'll be smiling down on you knowing that you have created something so wonderful.

oh dear, my heart goes out to you:hug:

i am going solo in august to celebrate my mother's life. she passed away february 20th. she was only 51, her body suffered and fought against congestive heart failure, kidney failure and diabetes. disney was our place. people question why i never choose to go anywhere in the world but disney. my answer is simple, disney has the magic that my mom embodied. i may be going alone, but my ma will be there with me.

your sister will be with you. i suggest you buy a balloon, tie a note to it and let it go. send it up to her. or dedicate a dinner to her at her favorite place.

gosh, i hope you have a wonderful time
