Going again

Well trying to decide where to go for next years holiday and thought what the hell lets go back to Florida.
So I am going on Monday to book for May 31st 2003 for my third trip to Disney.
Who said it was contagious.

Hi Kal,

I know exactly what you mean! I had my first trip to WDW last year, it was meant to be a once off trip, but having been there I've had to change that from "once off trip" to " as many as I can afford!" Myself and my boyfriend are heading back Oct'/Nov' '03, and it can't come quick enough. What annoys me is that people think we're a bit strange wanting to go there again. Well I say "mind your own business" usually the people who say this havn't been there themselves so they really don't know what they're talking about!!
Anyway enjoy the countdown to your trip, and have the time of your life when you get there!

We've had a couple of friends who have these opinions in the past . . . until we pointed out to them that sunshine is normally guaranteed, it's cheap, the food is fantastic, everyone speaks the same language and - why not, because we love it - and then remind them of the hellish trip they had to Ibiza, or their soggy camping trip to Bodmin Moor (not that we have anything against either of these, done both years ago), they then realise it's good to go back somewhere if you enjoy it Like you say, these are people who have never been and have no idea of the fantastic enjoyment we all get - they really should try it

Hmm nope, not interested Florida has it all, think i'll stick with it.

I've given up preaching to friends about the magic. Their eyes glaze over and you can see them thinking, "I couldn't spend 2 weeks at Alton Towers!"

I've converted the wife and kids and that's all that matters

We're DVC, so we go to WDW a lot. We do have one out, both sets of our parents live within an hour of WDW. So we just tell people that we're going down there to see the grandparents and oh yes, we're going to hit the parks too. But, I know what you mean about the strange looks.

It diesnt matter what people think one year after going to Florida I went to Zante even though it was nice I kept thinking I wish I was in Orlando!!only one place for me--FLORIDA --stick with what you know!

What you also find is that no matter how hard you try not to, everywhere you go that is not WDW gets compared (negatively)

We have been to Oasis for a week and Legoland for a weekend this summer, and as nice as they were, and as good a time as we had, in the back of your mind you are thinking "Disney would do that so much better" or "That looks cheap and nasty".

In the past we've been to Gulliver's World (never again) and abroad to the Costas. Like you say, you end up talking about going to WDW even whilst you are on holiday!!

Also, even though price wise they were probably comparable with what you would spend at WDW, you feel that they are expensive. WDW does not feel that way (although we know it is!!) but you feel you get VFM in all that you do.

Did that make any sense whatsoever??

I'm so glad it's not just us - we also found Legoland used some 'tactics' to get you to spend extra money, for example giving children tickets so they could go and get their driving licence, which then costs you £4 plus another 50p for the case! Not that I begrudge paying the money, i'd just prefer to make the decision myself.
Don't even get my started on them running out of Coke on most stands in 90 degree heat - it would never happen at Disney
