I was reading a different message board, and a cruiser described how her DS really wanted Mickey waffles for dinner. This is obviously not something offered on the dinner menu, however, their server came back with freshly made Mickey waffles.

Would anyone like to share examples of how their servers or cabin steward went above and beyond?

I'm interested in hearing the responses!

Our first night in the dining room on our last cruise my son was disappointed that there were no hotdogs on the menu. We mentioned it to our server who said he'd be right back. He then checked with the head server and not long after my son had a hotdog sitting in front of him :)
He was quite happy and I was impressed. I'm sure they just grabbed one from up on deck, but I thought it was wonderful that they went out of their way to get it for him!

On our first cruise, the kids didn't want to do dine & play on Pirate Night, they wanted to stay with us and then head to the party. Well, they were VERY tired and were falling asleep at the table.

Our serving team put chairs together to make a bed for each of the kids, complete with pillows made out of napkins and a tablecloth to cover them. The 3 kids (we were with another family) promptly fell asleep and didn't make it to the pirate party. :goodvibes

When we saw our servers on CC the next day, they asked the kids how comfy their bed were in the MDR...the kids had kind of forgotten that they fell asleep at the table!

One night I asked our server if they had Key Lime pie, the next dinner he brought whole pie!

First night of our cruise (the night where the dining room is the only option for dinner) my DH got stuck in the cabin with a critical deadline he HAD to meet and would miss our late dining time. Since this was our first Disney cruise, I went the to dining room to explain the situation to the Maitre'd and to ask what were my dining alternatives. It turned out to be main dining room or room service. I told him I'll just call room service and he said "wait a minute," then came back with a menu, asked for our full order, and had the whole thing sent to our cabin - dining room china, linen, and all - including extra desserts and a vase with a rose in it. Now THAT'S service!!

One morning we went to Triton's for breakfast and saw our asst. server, Brendan. He was not serving our table but he came by to say hi. During his visit my DD was complaining that there was nothing good to eat (a little too fancy schmancy for her taste). A few minutes later he was back with 4 chocolate donuts (not on the menu)! It made her day and I was especially impressed that he made this happen even though we weren't one of his tables.

On our second cruise, with just me and DH, it was our last night, and there was nothing on the menu that DH was interested in. He is a steak man, so he was going to order the generic steak. Our server saw us discussing the menu and asked us what the problem was. We told him and he said he would be right back. He was gone long enough to talk to his boss. He took everyones order but DH, and said I got you covered.

Everyones entree was brought, and DH's was uncovered it was a filet from Palo!!

On our last cruise we were discussing bread with a head server during lunch (the kids wanted the recipe for me), and the kids told him I made awesome challah. So he asked what dinner rotation we were in (he wasn't in our dining room). So the next night at dinner there was a fresh out of the oven full size challah at our table! Our table mates really liked us! LOL...

I am a picky eater and don't eat seafood. More of a meat and potatoes kind of person. I rarely ate appetizers because they didn't fit into this category. Well, one night on the kids menu they had a potatoe soup and it sounded good that I ordered it for myself. Well, I loved it so much that our server asked the kitchen and head server if he could get this for me every night. Well, the next night they brought it for me but it just wasn't the same. So I mentioned that. Anyways, he said no fear. And about 15 minutes later, they put together a soup that was so good. It wasn't the same, but was very close and just as good. And they had it ready for me the following night too! We are going back in 2 weeks and I have requested the same server!!

Also, my daughter loves corn dogs and they had it on the menu one night. We mentioned it was her favorite food, so when they brought out her food they left the top on the plate. And opened it in front of her with 3 corn dogs! She was shocked!!! As were we all. And no, she didn't eat all of them :)

At dinner on the Fantasy, my Wife mentioned to our Waiter a wonderful meal that she loved from our time aboard the Dream. He asked her a few questions and had her describe it.

Wouldn't you know it, the next evening at Dinner, he brought her that very meal!

I never expect such things but its always nice to hear great stories of great service.

On.my last cruise on the Dream we asked to sit in a different section one night cause I am claustrophbic and we were sitting in the back corner of Enchanted it was too much for me, plus I didnt really like our server. So they sat us in Marcello's section he was great. The next day at lunch we werent sitting in his section but he came to check on us and that night at dinner as well he came to check on us. He wS wonderful and always concerned we had a great experince.

Its always nice when you have great service. It doesnt always have to go above and beyond to me the Disney standard is so great already thats why we like them.

On our Cruise in January, we were chatting with our waiter (Conrad from Jamaica) about his ethnic foods, and how interesting they sounded to us. The next night at dinner he brought out an entire wok of rice and beans and curried chicken that he had had prepared for us. My daughter was so in love with the food that 2 days later she was still talking about it and the day after that, he made her another small dish of the same thing. We were AMAZED!

One of my kids is a fan of the Mickey Noodle Soup. Upon hearing that, our server arranged to have several bowl each night available to my child.

Now this is why we LOVE Disney so much!!

My neice fell in love with the towel animals that our stateroom host would make and so on the last sea day we went down to the towel making class and she learned how to make the ones they taught (monkey and dog and elephant). She went upstairs to practice and made animals in each of our 3 staterooms for our host. That evening she asked him how he liked her animals and mentioned that she had almost figured out how to make the bunny except for the ears. He asked if she would like to learn and took her with him adn taught her step by step how to make it.
He didn't have to take the time to do that but he did and it made her day.

One cruise, on Tropical night (replaced now by that silly pirate night), we had the most amazing warm banana bread with dinner. I was just gushing over it. At the end of the meal, our server brought me an entire loaf of it, still warm, all wrapped up to take with me. I ate that on the balcony with coffee every morning for the rest of the week, and it was awesome. :goodvibes

My story involves the shopping guide going above & beyond. I purchased a piece of jewelry last year that needed to be sized. I had an excursion and could not get back to the store to pick up the item. Katherine, the shopping guide on the Wonder, picked up the item for me.

Now that sounds like the perfect vacation!

On our first cruise, we had the most wonderful server. DS ordered the pizza for dinner but he didn't really care for it. The server asked if she could bring him something else but he is a really picky eater and said there wasn't anything else on the menu he wanted. I told her that I was just going to get him a pizza from the pool deck later but she was having none of that :lmao: She asked what was his favorite food and he said Grilled Cheese. So she went to the kitchen and had them make him a Grilled Cheese sandwich :thumbsup2

We specificially requested her again on our MR cruise this year and were so happy to see that our requested had been honored. Once again, she took excellent care of the kids (and DH and I). On our first sea day, we saw her when we went to breakfast and she was chatting with DS about what was his favorite breakfast foods. He said the Krispy Kreme donuts. So she went and got him some right then (even though we weren't in her section). Then the next morning at our Character breakfast, she had a whole plate of Krispy Kreme donuts waiting for us when we arrived at the table.

We found out at the end of the cruise that it was her last cruise on the Wonder. She was heading to Florida as soon as the ship docked to start working (in a new position) on the Fantasy. Even though she won't be working as a server anymore, we are still hoping that the timing is right so that we will get to see her to say Hi when we are on the Fantasy next year.

Our picky eater (Age 10) promised to try a new food at each meal on our recent cruise. On the third night she ordered an appetizer that included strawberries (one of her favorites). The plate was served with just one small strawberry on top. She got very quiet. I took her outside the MDR to have a chat about what was wrong. Through tears she told me that she didn't like any of the food because it wasn't the same as the description. I told her she didn't have to try new foods if she didn't want to and I would help her order to make sure she had something she liked.

When we got back to our table our main server discretely asked me if something was wrong (it was pretty obvious she had been crying). I told him she order the app because it had strawberries and was disappointed that it only had one small berry. Within a few minutes she received a full bowl of fresh strawberries. And...another bowl was waiting for her each of the remaining nights of our cruise!

We had the same thing happen on one of our cruises. DD must've been about 6 and she had been feeling sea sick on the first night of the cruise so we had given her 1/2 of the dose of dramamine that she could have. It helped her, but it made her extremely drowsy and so when our late dining time came she could barely keep her eyes open. The servers pulled 3 extra chairs together for her and put her down to sleep... but, they asked us to order for her and they would wrap up whatever didn't get eaten.

We ordered her dinner and they brought it out for her... during the whole meal, every so often the snores would stop and a little hand would reach up on the table and steal a french fry or a chicken nugget and shortly thereafter the snoring would resume. Our table mates were cracking up... it was great.

The head server came over and checked to see if we wanted to switch to main dining, but by then we had hit it off so well with our table mates there was no way we would switch. Good thing too... I think they were the best table mates in history, and they adored our DD. Said she had such a wonderful dry British sense of humor (which she does)... and they were from Liverpool!!!
