Going 1/15-1/20...1st timer questions

And yet, another question :)
If we rent a fridge, I'd like to get a few things. It probably not enough to justify an order from Garden Grocer. On site is there some sort of convenience store or similar?

Thanks everyone so much for the infomation you've provided to me so far. VEry helpful, much appreciated. :)

Are reservations typically required for dinner? I'm used to Disney....where making reservations way in advance is necessary.

Is there anywhere on site to buy basics such as milk and water to keep in fridge at resort? Or will I have to order from Gardengrocer.com?

Was thinking one night it would be fun to do a fun dinner show type thing. I was thinking either Medeival Times or the Luau right on property at RPR. Anyone been to either and what did you think? Which would be best value for dollar? (love the idea of Mai Tais included at RPR Luau. :) If we chose to do Medieval Times, what are options for transportation? i'm assuming a cab....

I'm not much of a roller coaster person AT ALL. The most I can handle is Big Thunder Mountain and Dinosaur at Disney. Do you think I'll be able to handle Mummy and Flight of Hipograf?

THANKS!!!!

Mummy in its own way is similar to Dinosaur. You should have no problems.

It would probably be good to just get a cab to the local WalMart or Walgreens to get your essentials and snacks for the week.

For next week, you probably won't need reservations, but it wouldn't hurt to make them when you get there. Slower time of year.

We come in on the 22nd. Save some mai tais for us. Not sure if the have the luau while we're there. I'll have to check. Hope the weather forecast warms up for your visit. Looks like a cool blast this weekend.

You shouldn't need dining ressies..I made some for my trip Just because the Disney-over-planner in me won't die easily..I made mine at Opentable.com

THANKS!!!!

i have been to both twice.
medieval times is a fun show for a family.
food is fine and entertainment is fun.

the Luau is only on saturdays at RPH.
i don't remember your vacation dates so bear with me.
if you go during the summer or a high crowd time period, book the luau weeks in advance.

i go in october and have made the ressie that day i go it.

i would say go with the luau as it would come out cheaper for you.
their menu and child buffet menu is listed in the rph section.

no need to get a taxi if you are staying on site.
that way you could drink all the beer or mai tais you can hold.

i would walk to the walgreens that is right near the PBH for the milk and supplies.
if you buy a lot of things, take a taxi back to your hotel.
if you are going from rph, take the water taxi to city walk/ switch to the pbh water taxi and walk from there to walgreens.

Oh! Bummer about luau only on Saturdays. We'll b there from Sunday-Friday :(
What's the water taxi?
Didn't know there was a Walgreens that close....awesome!

the water taxi is the boat that goes between the hotel boat dock to city walk.

With the ages of your kids you may also be interested to know about a few fast food kid friendly places to eat.

We ate at the Burger King Whopper Bar at City Walk. It has a limited Burger King menu but does have great Whoppers with different toppings and the kid favorite chicken nuggets. There is also an American Chinese Restaurant in the same building and a Salad and Wrap station in the same place.

Also, Pastamore has a counter service quick meal counter with salads, sandwiches and you can buy a whole pizza for under $15. We bought the pizza and it was a good size large pizza and tasty.

Pastamore was awesome. It had a "kids buffet" too, if you have a kid who is less picky than mine. Pizza, pasta, mac and cheese, fries. And the food was actually GOOD. :)
