I am a huge Godzilla fan, so I feel it's about time we get a ride at Disneyland about The Big G. Here is how I think it should go down. And with the upcoming American reboot coming soon, It's a good idea. Also, King Kong has a ride at Universal, so why can't Godzilla.

Godzilla: the Ride is a hybrid ride combining special roving motion vehicles with 3-D projection, elaborate physical sets, and both practical and tactile effects.

This system was used in The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman ride at Universal Studios, and is expected to be used on the Transformers ride currently under construction at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Singapore.

The ride also features physical effects, such as Mothra flying by the ride vehicle and releasing a powder effect.

Plot

Can you guys please help me come up with a plot for the ride. It has to involve Godzilla rampaging in the city and feature 2 other monsters, MechaGodzilla and Mothra.

What do you think so far?

It would be a great fit for the Japan Pavillion at Epcot, though I can't relate to Godzilla on any level. Plus, Disney needs to get licensing rights.

We always hoped the Japan store would carry more Gojira. DH has bought a couple cool T-shirts there.

How about using the Heisei Mecha King Ghidorah. We can ride inside it and battle G and Mecha G. We can join forces with Mothra.

Or let's be the Super X in the Godzilla Force. We can do it like Star Tours and have different adventures every time. Just pick up the old Body Wars capsule and have at it!

It would be awesome, although the majority of folks would expect the extra cheesy version and expect comedy.

FYI - Kong is long gone at Universal.

Listen to the Disney Dish Podcast Len Testa did with Jim Hill at Epcot last year. According to Jim there was actually some talk about doing this at the Japan pavilion but iirc Toho wasn't into it. Or something. I don't remember the details other than it was talked about but just didn't happen.

Just to clear things up, King Kong has been gone from Universal for several years.

It might work if, just like George Lucas, Disney revised Bambi and inserted Godzilla in the forest fire scene -- maybe he could "fire first" and ignite the forest... ;)

I love Godzilla as much as the next guy...no wait, a billions times MORE than the next guy, and I would be SHOCKED if Disney put in a Godzilla attraction. ELATED...but shocked.

Those movies are just so...interesting to me. I remember a marathon about six months ago, though. They must've showed every Godzilla and Mothra movie twice! They're just okay to me.

If that ride ends up being a coaster, count me out.:)

There is absolutely nothing about Godzilla that suggests Disney to me. Kind of like Avatar.

Have to agree with Mesaboy2 on this one. I just can't see this fitting in at Disney. WDW or Disneyland at least. (by the way, didn't the OP want this at Disneyland??) I could see it going into Tokyo- probably Disney Sea, but don't think it would be a hit anywhere else.

Two thumbs up! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Also, with Japan's rich, cultural heritage and traditions, it would seem kind of insulting (not to mention a bit stereotypical) if the main feature of that county's pavilion was Godzilla.

I agree there. It's not going to fit at WDW. There's really no place for it. It sounds like that if it happened, it would be like Alien Encounter, a nice try but just not Disney.

Kongfrontation is no longer at Universal Orlando but there is a 3-D King Kong attraction in Hollywood. The original Hollywood attraction burned down in 2008.

Well, by the looks of the responses you got here, you wouldn't have to wait in a long line...
