Godson Gift ideas needed

DH was asked to be Godfather to our newest little nephew
the one that was born 2 months early


so here is my question

any idea for a gift

last time we bought my other nephew his christening outfit a sweet little TUX and a savings bond but SIL already has an outfit
so we are looking for suggestions

I've never been honored to be a grandparent. Perhaps start a savings account for his college?

One thing I did for my nephew was to get him a Mommy and Me Bible storybook, I also got him a Daddy and Me one as well.

We got our godson a Celtic cross...he's Irish. But a nice Celtic cross made of pewter..not one with little lambs or whatever on it.

Our thought process was that if he wanted to hang it in his home when he was an adult, he could, without it looking stupid and babyish.

We have a religious supply store not too far from our home, and they have some lovely things. If you have one of those close by your house, I suggest you look there. How about a medal of the saint he is named after, if he is named after one (ie-Michael, Christopher, Patrick etc.). Don't assume his name is not a saint's name...there are some pretty obscure saints with some pretty odd names.

A nice idea is a Bible with his/her name engraved on the cover. Think keepsake item. If there is a religious store near you, just go browse and se what they've got.

My best friend (Godmother to Madison) bought her a small gold bracelet...with her name engraved....she gave it to me early for her to wear at the service. I don't know, though, that may be more of a girl thing. Madison is 9 now...and although I keep hiding that bracelet...she keeps finding it!!!!!!

My DH and I are godparents to our niece. When she was baptized, we gave her a blanket that I had cross-stitched a Precious Moments scene on, a Precious Moments baby keepsake Bible, and a Precious Moments godchild figurine. The keepsake Bible was neat because it had memory pages in the front where the parents can write down the dates of baby's milestones. Hope this helps!
