I called my sweet 88 yr. old Godmother and invited her over for spag. & mb. She loves my spag. & mb. I told her that I would have DH pick her up around 4:30. She is so excited to come over. She goes on to tell me not to make a fuss over cooking and proceeded to place her order for dinner! :rotfl: :rotfl:

She said you know Kitty I really like the rigatoni the best, with a few meatballs and a nice salad would be nice. also if you have any garlic bread or regl. italian bread, etc. We could then have coffe and cake afterwards!

She was so sweet the way she said it. I told her that is just what I am having, it is her favorite! GodMother will be 89 next month, she lives alone right around the corner from me and is smart as a whip!

That is wonderful. I can tell you treasure the time.

I like spending time with my Grandmother (she is 88 also). It doesn't take much to make her happy, just being with the great-grandkids does it for her. The only thing I don't like is that she is 30 miles away. I wish she was closer and would buy a new house if it meant having her come to live with us.

Amazing to think that these women were born right at the end of WWI. They lived through the depression, were our strength during WWII. They have seen so many changes in society.

The picture I keep in my head is my Nana walking with pedal pushers, spike heels (sometimes it would be her flowered Keds) and her beehive.

That is SOOO sweet....The perfect thing I needed to read today..:)

God bless all of you. You probably made her whole month..

Enjoy your dinner, it sounds heavenly.:goodvibes

That is so wonderful!:cloud9: I have tears now from missing my grandparents so much! Enjoy your evening! I wish I could be there too. That generation is always so interesting to spend time with.:goodvibes

both of my parents and all of my grandparents are gone..and I miss them..it's so sweet that you can treasure all these special moments with your godmother..have a wonderful dinner..and give her an extra kiss on the cheek and a hug from all of us on the DIS!..one more memory for you to keep in your heart forever!

awww...Kitty - how nice of you to have her over!

My Mom is 90 and lives with us. My sisters come over on Saturdays to take her out to lunch. She looks forward to it. After lunch yesterday, she asked my sister to drive by See's Candies so she could get some for herself (she had a "hankering" for chocolate!)

She sounds precious! My sweetest memories of nursing are the times spent with the elderly. :goodvibes
