20 people, 25 lb. turkey. Plus a ham that my sister is making. Plus all the other stuff you just have to have on Turkey day like that yummy green bean casserole that makes Thanksgiving what it is.
And afterward the whole lot of us are going to see Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets. Can't wait!

Steve H. -- I agree...you have to plan for those leftovers!
Snoopy -- I like your idea of a movie afterwards. I'll have to see what movie DS would be interested in seeing. Sounds like a nice tradition to start! Thanks!!
Catsrule -- ZERO pounds? Guess you won't be sweating in the kitchen. LOL!
Blondie -- Sorry you'll be working. I hope they have a nice turkey dinner in the cafeteria for you.
Nativetxn -- Your another leftover lover.
Olena -- Going to Granny's? Wow! You bring back memories of my childhood with that. We used to spend many holidays at our grandparents' house with them.
Exactly....DH the kids and I, my brother his wife and their kids, my best friend and his entire family and my inlaws. Trust me it makes for an interesting day.
I don't have a final head count yet, but it'll be between 25 - 30 people. I'll get as large a turkey as I can find (23 lbs?) and we'll have a ham too.
(thanks for the reminder, I gotta call & reserve the extra tables & chairs!)
Right now the count is at 21. I usually get about a 25 lb. turkey. i do a soup course ( red pepper and corn chowder), as well as a lot of hors d'oevres beforehand. I use a Silver Palate recipe for my turkey and stuffing- the turkey is basted with fresh orange juice and Grand Marnier, and the stuffing has pork sausage, dried apricots, more fresh orange juice, and more Grand Marnier of course , sour cream mashed potatoes, sauteed vegetables, and lots of desserts( which always includes gingerbread cookies in the shape of turkeys ) I'm usually exhausted by the time I'm done, but Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays!
We are actually going to Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving so my grandma can eat with both her children (we are meeting in Tifton, halfway between where we live and my aunt lives). That will be a first for us, but I love Cracker Barrel, so I think I'll be okay without the homecooking.
I'm going home to my mom and dads. There will be 18 people. Lots of food. Can't wait. This is the first time that Dh and I have had T-day with my mom and dad in years!!
