So my son is sick, I took him to the doc Thursday afternoon and he has croup, and then yesterday he developed a fever and he now is really pale/tired. No need to take him back to the doc at this point, I think it's just the virus running it's course. The doc had said he should lay low for 3 days (he is on prednisone to help open his airways) because physical activity could cause more coughing fits. The doc said he is not contagious (now I am not so sure, since he developed a fever since then?!?). His voice is very raspy.
Anyway, today is the final football game of the season. My DH has to work, which is fine, but he's insisting I take my son anyway because even if he's benched he should go and support the team. Normally I wouldn't care, but it's supposed to rain all day, so he would be out in the rain, sick, for two hours. I told my DH, I am mostly worried about MONDAY..and next week..he missed school yesterday but we need to get him healthy so he can go back on Monday. My DH said I should stop signing my kids up for activities if they are going to skip if they don't feel well, it's not being a good team player, unless they are in the hospital they go.
The team did NOT make the playoffs. I could see if they were playoff contenders, doping him up with Tylenol Flu and hoping for the best. It's the last game. I have until 5pm today to decide. BTW, my son does not want to go (feels lousy and just wants to lay in bed) but my DH says I am treating him like a sissy. Oh, he is 10, this is minors tackle football.
Thanks!!!!

So the sickies are hitting our area hard. They may really NEED my son to play, and at the very least he will be needed to give the other kids a break. I keep going back and forth, part of me is thinking, "screw the team, I am worried about my family first" but it stinks when you have a very lean team to begin with and the team really needs the others.
and hoping he's better soon!
Pardon my French, but your husband is an idiot! The kid has croup, for God's sake. He feels like crap and your DH thinks that sitting in the cold and rain for 2 hours would be the best treatment?
Holy cow. I thought I had seen everything, but I learn something new everyday on the DIS.
NOT.
