Yes the Sens won the series but they are by far the team with the black eye leaving the conference finals thanks to thier fans beating up 2 women from Buffalo after game 4 in Ottawa.

A Buffalo woman who attended the Sabres-Senators game in Ottawa on Wednesday night was attacked in the arena by two men who pushed her to the floor and punched her repeatedly in the face, she said Thursday.

She suffered cuts, bruising and swelling to her face during the assault, which came as her group of seven was leaving their seats in Scotiabank Place after the Sabres’ 3-2 victory.

Two other women were scratched, and one man was bitten in the attack. Police are investigating the incident but have not filed any charges.

“I had a headache all day. It hurts to chew. My face is sore,” said Renee Luck, 31, the assault victim. “It’s absurd that something like this could happen over a win against them.”

The seven fans who drove to Ottawa for Game Four of the Sabres-Sens series were bravely dressed in Buffalo gear as they made their way inside.

They received a lot of goodnatured heckling from Ottawa fans, many of whom expected a Senators victory that would sweep the Sabres out of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Inside, there were about 150 Buffalo fans sprinkled throughout Scotiabank Place, but for the most part it was a sea of Senators fans dressed in red, white and black, said Kristin Brown, 28, of Amherst.

The trouble started after the game, as the Buffalo fans were walking down the aisle and toward the exit to the concourse.

Brown first felt someone grab at her jersey, and then she was shoved to the ground.

Luck said she then was shoved by one of two male Senators fans standing near her.

At that point, she was pushed to the ground by the men and punched five times in the face. Other fans quickly moved in to pull the men off her and hold them until police were able to move into the aisle.

“They hit two women. Honestly, I can’t even call them men. They were morons,” said Sean Luck, 34, of Elmwood Village.

Brown and the Lucks said they didn’t do anything to warrant such a violent response.

Police did receive a report of an assault in the arena and are investigating the matter, said Constable Michelle Lacroix of the Ottawa Police Service.

While I know this post comes with a large portion of sarcasm --- the tone is a bit much. Yes there were drunken idiots who assaulted a fan of the Sabres but do you really think this leaves the actual Senators team with a "black eye" --- so far as I can tell this only leaves a black eye on the drunken, obnoxious fans who actually performed the illegal acts. While I appreciate that Leaf fans may be experiencing some profound jealousy feelings... this was a little much and very petty --- even for Leaf fans.

Doesn't F4Disneyfan hate the Leafs? I think he is a major Canadiens fan.

Hmmm.. I don't really keep track of who each individual DIS'er roots for...

Based on the rivalry between the Toronto and Ottawa fans I made an incorrect assumption I guess. My apologies to all Leaf fans out there who might have been offended.

It just seem sad that the poster would take the criminal actions of two idiots and imply that it tarnishes the hard fought victory of the hockey team("team with a black eye") or that image of a city should be tainted by this isolated violent act. The articles itself points out that there was "a lot of goodnatured heckling from Ottawa fans" and that "Other fans quickly moved in to pull the men off her and hold them until police were able to move into the aisle". The poster's comment just seems like a cheap shot to me --- regardless of which team they are fans of.

LOL the LAFFS hell no I HATE THE LAFFERS and yes I am a HUGE HABS FAN. This does leave the Sens with a black eye because the fans are looked at in direct correlation with the team just like people in Colorado or and other city feel that HABS fans and our constant demand for a winner takes away from our club and our constant criticizing our players makes the team look bad. People look at the team and it's fans in the same light and if the fans act poorly that is generally looked at in the same light for the team they are fans of.
