Just back from WDW. Used my Go Pro with handle (Pic attached) in all parks and on rides. Ok'd it with security at entrance and with CM's on the rides. No problem. Wasn't sure if it would be considered part of the ban on selfie sticks but glad to find out it passed thru with no problem.

If that's all the further the handle extends, I don't see why it would've been a problem. The main problem with the selfie sticks was people extending them outside of ride vehicles.

Yea these are allowed. There's a thread made about every other day about them lol

Does anyone know if the GoPro branded gooseneck attachment is allowed? I know it's a bit longer that the kind depicted in OP's picture.

Was there in May after the selfie stick ban on rides and they refused to let DS have his in his hand with a strap on it. He tried to explain it is a handle and does not extend. All CMs refused. Glad they finally sat down and defined the real problem.

I see it as a problem of losing control. That could still come out of someone's hand. I imagine it'll just take a few incidents of dropping it when the person doesn't have the strap on for them to ban that too.

I will confess to laughing at someone running with one during the marathon who lost her grip and tripped over her feet trying to catch it. (She didn't.)

Not as hard as I laughed at the showboating guy who tumbled and rolled over the finish, but still...

Not everyone was being turned away. It was just a few misinformed security members
Yes the only time it was questioned (this past week) was at Epcot a security guard at gate held it up so a CM off to the side could see. The CM waived it on said "it doesn't extend it's Ok." No questions from anyone else at the parks or on any of the rides.

Yea but then they would have to ban all holding of items all together. Holding a GoPro on a handle is no different than holding a regular camera, cell phone, etc.

Thats what I was thinking too. Extended poles is one thing but a hand grip is just that.
