Endless nightmare? Nahh... just another year the Yankees came up just a little short. Sure it hurts a bit more to lose to the Red Sox, but it's a lot easier to take those when you've seen them win it six times.

Go Cardinals! ;)

Great series guys (even though my 'Stros lost :( ). I can say I dont have any fingernails left, lol :)

So they Yankees one choke is much worse than say 86 years of Boston's chokes? :p

Eh, trying to diminish that "choke" into some little footnote won't work. This wasn't just a "bump in the road" for the Yankess.

It a massive, unprecedented collapse, a failure of mythical, historic proportions, that as one sportswriter yesterday said "irrespective of whatever happens in the future, every member of the current Yankee team will take to their graves."

Or stated differently, if the Sox win the series, no one will care about the previous 86 years.

But they Yankees will always carry the memory of this MASSIVE choke.

Go Cardinals. Win 7th game Fenway Park in the 9th inning.

So Derek Jeter will forget about his 4 World Series rings because the Red Sox have a chance to get one? Sure it hurt. But it doesn't hurt nearly so much when your last ring came in 2000.

Stated differently, if the Red Sox don't win the series, no one beyond New York and Boston fans will care about the Red Sox winning against the Yankees.

Bucky Dent is famous because the Yankees went on to win the World Series. Bill Buckner is infamous because that error cost the Red Sox a World Series. Aaron Boone will be nothing more than a trivia question because the Yankees lost the World Series.

You're trying to maximize the importance of what the Red Sox have done. More power to ya. That's what fans do. But let's not go overboard here. It's not going to crush the spirits of the entire Yankee organization for years to come (as much as Red Sox fans would like that) ;)

The mound may very well be at Busch Stadium. But I'll take a fresh Roger Clemens with an 18-4 record with an ERA of 2.98 versus a Suppan with a 16-9 record with an ERA of 4.16 and who is 0-3 against the Astros at BUSCH stadium this year.

The odds WERE in his favor....but our Cardinals were DUE!!!!!

Bring on BOSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bounce:

I humbly stand corrected before the Cardinals and their fans. Congratulations on a great win and series. Lot's of luck the rest of the way.

Yeah, the Yankees will have to live with that. But I am, and always be a Yankees fan no matter what. A fan is a fan for their team good or bad.

Well said!!!! That's EXACTLY what a real fan is. I grew up in St. Louis and I've been a Cardinal fan since I was a little girl. I'm now a grandmother living in Indiana....but I still love my Cardinals!!!

People around here are CUBS fans, and our family gets LOTS of razzing about the CARDINALS, but it's in our blood. ::yes::
