Gnomies Gone Wild

Take out can be evil. For me, sweets aren't my problem. I can resist chocolate, ice cream, cake, whatever with no problem. But carbs? Chips, pizza, french fries etc? I am addicted!! Maybe I need rehab.

I like both.

Resistance is futile. :rotfl2:

The thing that bugs me the most is that Friday, I could walk right past the ice cream BUT yesterday it drove me insane. ALL DAY LONG. I had to have some. :sad2:

Resistance is futile. I like that. If only I had a naturally fast metabolism I'd stop trying to resist all together. Of course if I got off my butt and exercised perhaps I could have that metabolism. Such a vicious circle! ;)

Food cravings.... really? :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Just kidding. I have them too even at times where there is no chance it means anything else... if you know what I mean. ;)

Just got "upgraded" from a tornado watch to a warning. :scared1: What is going on?! I know I need to organize my basement but the universe doesn't have to force me down there!

Hi ladies! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I worked my booty off...a little boy pooped on the floor in my store today...it was wonderful.:scared1:

When will the drama end?! This is what I keep singing broadway style in my kitchen when no one else is home! I'm worried right now beacause DCousin Kyle's mum is now going away for 10 days and it will be just him and I in the house. What am I going to do if he has some kind of breakdown while she's gone?!

I can't claim total credit... I'm watched Sex & the City recently. Charlotte has that classic line, "I've been dating since I was 15. I'm exhausted. Where IS he???" :rotfl:

Good luck on the weather front C...we had it yesterday and the day before! I was hiding in my room (which is thankfully in the basement!), and was nearly ready to hide under the bed!

That line is my motto...and I'm totally a Charlotte! Now I'm giving up looking...he can look for me for awhile! I'm over it...:snooty:

Jen - Congrats on the job!!!:cheer2::yay::woohoo: I hope everything works out!

Well, I'm off to the gym girls! Have a good night!

I think I'm a Charlotte too, Stacy! Who are the rest of you ladies?

Weather passed us right by but was in the basement long enough to load up a trash bag so at least I was productive in my decluttering! :thumbsup2

Good luck with Kyle this week. :goodvibes

Oh and  to the accident in your store. I take it the parent(s) didn't offer to clean it up?

I am exhausted ladies!! The house is done!! It took forever (been working since 1:00pm and just got done, and worked all day yesterday), but the walls are cleared and scrubbed, the ceilings and walls have been touched up, the doors stained, cat doors made to look pretty, carpets cleaned, boxes packed, outdoor made to look presentable all so we can take pictures tomorrow for perspective renters!! It was worth it though because we now have taken a huge chunk out of all the packing we will have to do at the end of the month!!

I caved and shared a pint of Ben and Jerry's with Phillip, at least we shared LOL I figured we deserved it!! I need to get back to working out though...maybe tomorrow morning????

Well I'm off to bed..C...I hope the weather cleared out of your area and you were able to get some rest!!!!

Hmmm...hobbies, I really like to scrapbook but that doesn't lend itself towards inexpensive. I'm like you I have been doing WAY too much shopping recently LOL...I need to cut it out until we get settled in Austin LOL!!!! Hmmm...what about writing???

Stace...good luck with Kyle while his mom is away!

Hey girls. sounds like a stressful weekend!

Temptations...they are the worst! I simply cannot keep chips or ice cream in my house (I do buy the "skinny" ice cream treats and 100 calorie popcorn bags for emergencies but they are not as good.)

I can say I'm not a big shopper but part of that is because I hate trying on clothes, it depresses me! The Dis is my only fun hobby

I always look jealously at people who run and bike "for fun" and wish I had that in my personality. I just don't find exercise fun and I love food *SIGH* I do need to find some motivation though because I'm not happy with my body right now.

C, sorry about the weather. At least you got some work done, my basement is a nightmare and I think about going to work on it but I go down and see how overwhelming it is and give up!

well aren't I a ray of sunshine this morning :lmao:

Have a great week my friends :goodvibes

I just saw another commercial reminding me I need to get to the gardens at Iowa State sometime this summer....check it out!

Morning Gnomies!

Hey Jackie, I need your help! I want some historical fiction books to read. I just finished both of the Lady Emily books. I want ones like that or similar. I requested The Piano Teacher as well, that one looks really good. I need some good reads! :goodvibes

Me too...I can read books, for like a month...so request away peeps! Unlike C I haven't made a list of all the books you guys have recommended and even if I had it would be lost by now!!!! So I need a couple of good books I can get at the book store so I can have them to read while we are in Michigan!!!

I love Historical Fiction and I enjoy a good biography too!

Oh man...did anyone else get an 40% off pincode in their email??

I so have the Disney itch right now to book a trip :rolleyes1

Where is my Disney love??? :confused3

Congrats to those of you who got the pin code. Hope you can use them. I hear that Oct 14-23 is a pretty cool time to go... :rolleyes1

Didn't you love A Fatal Waltz? It was my favorite. There is a fourth one, as well, called Tears of the Pearl.

The Piano Teacher was fantastic. So was The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton -- you said you read The House at Riverton by her, right?

Right now I am reading East of the Sun by Julia Gregson. It's about these three British women who head out to India in the 1920's. I am loving it!

What time period, Jen, is your favorite?

I think I am the only person on the DIS boards who didn't get the 40% pin code. :(

I'm so torn when to use it! Oct would be wonderful since we've never gone during fall before, BUT, gotta love Christmas time...plus it would be more time for us to save up. What's the rule again..if you book, how many days before you trip can you cancel?

Congrats to JEN on the job!!! Woo Hoo! So glad everything is falling into place for you! :thumbsup2

If you book a room only reservation you can cancel within 7 days, I believe. I think with a package deal it increases to ~45 days but check b/c I'm no expert.

Tough call on F&W vs. Christmas. I'm not sure. I think I vote F&W b/c a) I'm a fan of food AND wine and b) you're more assured of warm/pool weather. But I will also say that I think everyone should see the Christmas decorations at least once. SO magical!

Keep us posted on what you decide!!

I've read East of the Sun, I think I told you about that one. I really like that one, it's very you.

I am so excited that there is a 4th Lady Emily!! I must go request that from the library. :thumbsup2 A Fatal Waltz was excellent. I love all the characters in that book!

I should start writing down who recommends what to me so I don't then recommend the same book to that person! :lmao:

Have you read The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie? That's another one that I loved -- the narrator, Flavia, is eleven, but it's a book for adults -- a murder mystery set in England in the 1930's. Flavia is a hoot, and I reserved the second one in the series from the library.

I adore Lady Emily -- the newest one will be out in October -- it's going to be called Dangerous to Know.

I like the Victorian time period a lot, Jackie! Plus I like a good frontier story!!

And I will commiserate with both you and C...I haven't gotten a pin code!!! I swear Disney is sending all my pin codes to another email addy LOL!!!!
