Gnomies Gone Wild

Thanks on the backsplash, C. It's still not done. My loving husband under estimated how many tiles we'd need so I had to order another box of them. I'll finish it next weekend. I just feel like the last month I've been working non-stop on the new apartment and I'm tired of it and I haven't even moved yet! :sad2:

I did pack today. I barely made a dent in what needs to be packed but at least I did something. We can start moving stuff over a little at a time so I'm just going to keep packing and piling it up.

I'm excited about the DVC announcement even though I am no where near ready to buy. Though if my love of Riverside continues I don't know if I'll ever buy. :rotfl2: Marc & I did talk seriously about January and I think once we move and our wallet recovers a bit I will be booking a trip. We've got dates and even some ADR ideas. I'm very excited!

I forgot to mention...

CP, I just finished reading "The Postmistress" and I don't know if it's on your reading radar or not but I didn't love it. I found myself zoning out while I was reading it because it just didn't grab me.

C, I have been reading those same things. I am very intrigued -- so intrigued that I am holding off putting my next big payment on the Disney trip. ;)

Julez, I wish I had a lazy day today -- as usual, I need a weekend do-over. I have not been having good luck with my weekends lately.

Stace, lunch at the Olive Garden sounds lovely! :lovestruc

LL, I hate packing. I hate packing so much that we may never move again. The Postmistress was only slightly on my radar screen so I will scratch it off completely now. I am about fifty pages from the end of The Lost City of Z. It is non-fiction about an explorer in the 1920s who disappeared in the Amazon. I haven't been able to put it down because it reads like an Indiana Jones movie -- I keep having to remind myself that it really happened! Absolutely engrossing.

Stace, you mean you weren't being a good Canadian yesterday and staying home to watch hockey?

Umm, christine...let's not forget my May 7 ADR for Rose and Crown...party of 3, only 2 of us going :rolleyes1

Jackie, I'm with you on the moving thing! We are still hoping to move this summer (still gotta get that full-time job first ) I had told Greg this is it until we retire and downsize. As of this weekend though, we are having serious discussions of possibly moving to a new town in 3 years. A really good district about 45 minutes from here will be transitioning to a 2 high school town and will need additional teachers. This is one of the cities I have tried for years to encourage Greg to consider moving into. We'll see...

I want a weekend do-over too!

Stacy- your love of the Olive Garden just tickles me. Glad you had fun! :)

LL- packing stinks. No other way to say it. But it will be worth it. You already have dates and ADR ideas, do you???

CP- oooh I hope the announcement is enough to inspire a purchase!! That will take care of any funk we're in!

Katie- I have not forgotten about your trip and will admit that yesterday I was thinking to myself that cinco de mayo in the Mexico pavilion would be pretty cool. I *may* even have priced it out. :rolleyes1

Hope everyone has a great day!!! :upsidedow

:woohoo:
(You know you want to)

:yay:
(It will be a lot of fun)

(you could set the record for having met the most gnomies)

Good Morning Gnomies!

CP -- Sounds like a good book. I started another Diane Chamberlain last night. I'm only on the 3rd chapter but I'm already hooked. I really love her books. I'm also excited because the Jodi Picoult book that is released tomorrow has already shipped. YAHOO! I hate packing too. I hate moving as well. This is it for a really long time I hope....

C -- DO IT! Yes, I have things planned out in my mind. Marc really wants to hit up Universal too but I could take it or leave it. I'm hoping to leave it. :rotfl2: I'm not 100% sure on all of the ADRs but I have a pretty good idea. I think we will pretty much do TS for both lunch and dinner so we aren't stuck eating the same stuff at counter service all week. I'm excited. It will have been over two years since we took a real vacation together when we go.

Okay gang.....it has been way too long, and I won't even try to go catch up because I have no idea where I last left off----but glad to be back!!!!!

If you didn't see it on my TR, I had a major computer malfunction, and thus, no computer to DIS and catch up with my Gnomies with!!!! BOO!!!!! BUT, all has been restored, and this last problem has actually provoked us to go get a new laptop too, so that will soon be here as well!!!!!!!

From what I have just glanced over---MAJOR congrats are due to LL!!!!! WTG on the weight loss and the new apartment!!!! I LOVED the backsplash. My sister did the same treatment to house they used to live in, and it always looked so good!!! Have you read many of Jodi Picoult's books?!?!?! I just finished reading 'Harvesting the Heart.' Yes, I have FINALLY been able to get back into reading, so whenever you and Jackie want to hit with me a LONG list of GREAT books that I need to read from the last six years, go right ahead!!!!! ;) I loved the book, but really hated how it ended....or didn't end I should say. Did you read it?!!?!? What did you think?!?!?!! Which of her books have you enjoyed????? It feels so good to be talking about books again!!!! YEAH!!!!

Stace--I saw the Bodies exhibit last year, and although I am squeamish, it was VERY interesting.

I can't wait to hear what the big announcement could be for DVC................

So glad to be back!!!!

I love Jodi Picoult. There is only one of her books that I haven't read. That one and the new one that comes out tomorrow. Harvesting the Heart was one of her first books...I don't remember how it ended but I know that I didn't like it as much as her more recent books.

Here are my favorites...
The Pact
Second Glance
My Sister's Keeper
Perfect Match
Plain Truth

The Pact, Salem Falls & Nineteen Minutes have some of the same characters so you'd want to read them in that order.

Oh, who am I kidding...I loved them all! :rotfl:

If you like her, I've heard Diane Chamberlain called the "Southern Jodi Picoult". The books are along the same lines.

The reason that I didn't like the ending was that it was too vague---didn't really tell you how things ended at all. I guess it was one of those things that you were supposed to leave it up to your own opinion, but I need closure. I really invested in the two characters---Paige and Nicholas---and she didn't give you a real sense on what happens with them. The rest of the book was so good that I was somewhat let down. I will take your advice on those others----Diane Chamberlain sounds like another good one!!!!

Gosh LL.....it is so nice to "chat" with you again!!!! I really missed you all!

We've missed you too!!

I've been on a wicked reading kick lately. I've been watching less TV and reading more. I'm keeping track of the books I'm reading after Carissa and CP said that they do that and so far I have read 20 books since January 1st!

Jodi Picoult is one of my favorites. I love her books. The Pact was the first one I read so it has a special spot in my heart.

OY...speaking of moving....I don't know how I am going to make it to Texas...so crazy!! SO much to do...right now that is all that I can think about! I have even censored my time on the computer when I'm at home at night...like not getting on the computer at all so I can actually focus on things that need to be done!! I forgot how much I hated moving, our next move better be the last one for awhile LOL!

Speaking of packing and moving- UGH! I'm so over it. I'm glad we won't be moving again until RAchael is in middle school. So I have at least 5 years before we move....

I still have a pile of boxes in a corner of the basement that are unpacked! Books that I have no shelving for and stuff I"m saving for my first garage sale this summer!

If I book a room-only with a PIN, can I just pay the deposit and pay the rest in cash when we get there or the balance due before then? Hoping my gnomies know the answer to this....

I believe if it's room-only, you pay the balance at check-in (I'm sure they will take your money in advance too) We have a package ressie and a room-only ressie. I was told the package balance was due at 45 days out and the room-only balance upon check-in

Yes, with room-only you can pay the balance at check-in. :thumbsup2

On the moving/unpacking topic, I hate to admit it but I have boxes in my basement that still haven't been unpacked since my move 5+yrs ago! :scared1: At this point should probably just throw it all in the trash if I haven't missed it yet!!

Katie - very tempted on a May trip. We'll see...

MM- nice to see you back on the boards! :)

I am determined that this next move will ONLY be things we actually want/need/will use!!! Only half the furniture we currently own will fall into that category too.

I will just invite people in with everything left after the move and call it a garage sale/open house. Maybe someone who wants our old crap will want our house too :lmao:

That is definitely the key. Don't move the crap in the first place. And I've vowed to do that each and every move. Only to be up against the deadline and mindlessly throwing things into boxes... :rolleyes1

Now I'm curious about what might be down there so I may go check it out!

On hold with Disney... don't get TOO excited, Katie ;)... wait is 7 minutes! :scared1: On a random Monday at 4:30pm?? Apparently WDW is not hurting. :confused3
