Gnomes Gnomes on the Range!

Super cute shirts P!!

Yay Jen on closing!!

Well, tomorrow is my first day with kids and I am NOT ready! Basically, I have had zero training on the program and nothing is set up already so I don't even know which students are supposed to be working on what. :sad2: I was finally put into the system and given a manual and I don't doubt I will get it figured out but it will take a couple days to sort through everything and in the meantime, I will have students in my classroom without things to work on. Thank goodness the first 2 days are shortened!

Oh yes, and did I mention my classroom is full of mold :scared1: I was promised the custodial crew would be scrubbing this evening

wish me luck!

Guess who is going to be in WDW at the same time I am....

:woohoo::woohoo::dance3::dance3::woohoo::woohoo:

Clearly he must have found out when I'd be there and signed up for the same week. I knew it was love last year! ;)

WOOT WOOT!!! Well if that isn't an incentive to make sure I get down there that weekend I don't know what is!! LOL!! Jamie Deen...how exciting!!!! YAY!!!

First day went well!!! Thanks for all the well wishes!

Glad your first day went well, Jen. I'm sure the kids loved you! Can't wait to hear how Katie's day went!

Mmm Mmm Mmm..mr Dean returns for C :goodvibes

Glad your day went well Jen!

Today went reasonably well given the circumstances. I basically collected info from the kids about what they have done/are working on/need to start on. There is a ton of sorting to get done but over 1/2 of my kids at least have a class they have started but not finished. Tomorrow I can get them going and I will then deal with the rest, I will have to create accounts and check with counselors to make sure I get them registered for the right course

Still feeling a lot of stress but I know I'll get there!

Happy First Day of School, Jen and Katie!!! It's hard for me to believe we are in our third week of school -- I feel like we have been there FOREVER!

I made an October ressie for Hilton Head for Charles and me. Not sure if we will keep it or not, but we would really like to get away for a long weekend.

C, how exciting that Jamie Deen is going to be at Food and Wine again! You are so lucky! :goodvibes

Glad the first day went pretty well for you too, Katie. I'm sure you'll straighten everything out in no time!

3rd week, Jackie?! Wow. Hope you have a fun bunch of kids this year.

Hilton Head sounds awesome! I hope you're able to keep it!!

I got my ticket to see Jamie Deen this morning! :yay:

Make sure you take lots of pictures, C!!

Glad school went and is going well for everyone. :goodvibes

I finish my 4th class on Saturday. It's been a super boring one so I'm glad it's almost over. But the next class is Medical Law & Ethics so I'm sure it will be pretty boring too. I can't wait to get to the clinical classes.

Medical law is boring.... and it'll probably be different by th time you graduate anyway LOL! I have a hard time keeping up with fed/PA law changes... I've completely given up trying to remember Ohio law changes (I'm still licensed there, but have'y practiced there in over 10 years!)

Medical ethics is pretty facinating though..... because common sense goes out the window with it. One perect example.... patient comes in and requests a printout for himself, wife, and kids of expenses for past year to submit to his insurance company for reimbursement. What do you do???

Answer.... Give him his only. Then mail (in seperate envelopes) the wifes to HER.... and the kids to both HIM AND HER.

Why? Because even though the request is simple enough.... The man actually wanted to use the copy of his wife's expenses(medications) for both insurance reimbursement, and to give a copy to his lawyer... because his wife is on antidepressants, she's not 'fit' and he wants custody of the kids (she doesn't know this of course). By mailing it to her, either she is informed that he requested it...or if HE opens it and uses it... now its a 'federal offense' of mail tampering and the info can get suppressed in court.

Patient has a 10% chance of surviving a condition... by giving drug x we could increase the odds to 20%... but the course of therapy is $75K and involves much discomfort and their insurance won't pay for it....

Patient is dying of Lou Gehrigs.... she has her mind, but needs life support to breathe and work her heart. Her 20yo niece needs a liver transplant ASAP or she will probably not survive the week. Patient wants to discontinue LS and donate her liver to her niece.... she's not getting better anyway, and is of sound mind to make her own medical decisions...... Can you ethically let her????

And the stories go on.....Medical ethics is a quagmire.... But I always found it very interesting.... hopefully you will too!

Wow.... medical ethics sounds interesting. P, sounds like you could be a teacher!!

LL congratulations on continuing on with school. Can't believe you are finishing your 4th class already! Great job!

I promise to take lots more pictures of Jamie Deen. I also signed up to see Robert Irvine too. I don't have a crush on him like I do Jamie but I do like his Dinner Impossible show on Food Network.

I'm thinking I need a new camera for this trip...:rolleyes1

I wouldn't want to be teacher... but every case has multiple ways of looking at it. And usually no matter what you choose... there could be consequences that are not fun!

I had to take medical ethics in college.... and I read the ethics/legal 'case studies' in my pharmacy journals each month.... so I know about it... but would never want to shape young minds on that (or any LOL!) subject!

P, you actually made me interested in Medical Ethics. :lmao: I even got out my book and looked at it last night. Thanks. :goodvibes

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate my job??

I'm sorry you are hating your job, LL. But remember you are taking proactive steps to make changes. You should be very proud!

And if that doesn't do it for you, you are going to WDW in 13 days!!

Trust me, the only thing that is getting me through is that my work vacation starts next Thursday at 4:25PM EXACTLY. I am so ready for a break.

WOW....this whole moving, starting school, closing on a house thing is for the birds...I feel like I'm going going going and never get to stop!! The kids keep me hopping, my house keeps me unpacking, and then...well not much else LOL!!

So I'm working on getting my personal days all lined up for Disney trips!! Wish me luck with that LOL!

P...I loved reading what you wrote...WOWZERs!! I think there is some teacher in you LOL!

LOL....class is that exciting uh???

Please put me out of my misery. Please.

I want to leave so badly. I can't stand the chaos. Everyone is at different points and I'm just sitting here waiting for her to tell me what to do next. :headache:
