dh is trying to talk me into trading in my car.. i have an equinox and we are looking at an arcadia... any experience with arcadia's?? the one we looked at is really nice, third row seating and still a lot of storage behind the third row...

We just bought the Chevy equal, Traverse, and love it. We have three kids who are all still in either boosters or car seats. The seating was ideal for us. The second row has two bucket seats instead of the full bench seat and the third row is for three. The third row folds 60/40. The cargo space behind the third seat is amazing. I can fit by double sit-n-stand stroller back there comforably.
I don't think you will be disappointed if you can get past the sticker price:eek:. We were told that they do not come down much in price with these cars because they are a hot seller.
Good luck with your decision.

wait juts a little since the 2011 prices will be going down with the 2012 cars coming out.

We just bought the traverse also and are still determining what we think.

I also was looking into one, and my co-worker has a 2008 one and she said she's had a lot of problems with it. She said the check engine light comes on all the time, then theres nothing wrong, or they cant FIND anything wrong, etc. Granted, it may have just been that year's model but now I'm a little hesitant since our current Jeep has had a LOT of problems and I'm I don't want to go through those annoyances again.

What does the stored code say the problem is? "they" should at least be able to tell her that.

It may also be that she might not be tightening the gas cap all the way after she fills up.

My mom has the Enclave (isn't it similar?) and it's been a wonderful car. We've taken it to FL a few times, I did the driving and it is very comfortable. Can't understand the PP's 13mpg---we easily get 400 miles of driving on a tank of gas. Plus, it uses regular gas; way better than my Landcruiser. This is a woman who could buy any car she wants (also owns a Lexus, Infiniti, and Benz) and the Enclave has been her favorite. Great for hauling grandkids and mulch as needed. Purchased through the Costco car buying program--- there is a discount available there. GL!!!

My sister owns an Acadia and loves hers. I own a 2004 GMC Envoy, which is the predecessor of the Acadia I think. We bought it new and it just hit 100,000 miles. Other than tires, a battery, and a thermostat we've not had to do any work on the car. We haven't even had to change the brakes and I keep having them checked to make sure they are ok.

We've really had good luck with our GMC's as DH drives a GMC truck.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our 2010 Acadia. Really, I am not one to "love" a thing like a car, but this car is fantastic. If I won a $20million lottery tomorrow, I would happily keep my Acadia. The fact that it still has ample cargo space with all seats up is unique in SUV land, and the captain's chairs vs. a bench in the middle row is wonderful.

For reference, the cars I've owned in the past 10 years are: Honda CR-V (no kids), Mazda 5 (up to 3 three kids), Mazda CX-9 (3 kids). Not a single one of them met all the needs of our family at the time. The Acadia DOES. I will drive it until it falls apart.

mommee- That's not always true actually because on our Jeep, the check engine light was on and they could not find any cause and had to manually turn it off. I've heard the gas cap thing many times, and it's never been that the 3 times I've had my check engine light on.

I'll be following the responses on the Acadia as well. We are going to be trading in our 2000 Odyssey and have narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot and Acadia. I've had Honda's for years and thought for sure I would go with the Pilot but I really want to check out the Acadia too.

I wish there werent so many trim levels on the Acadia though....it's hard to compare all of the levels.

I really like the look of the Acadia better than the Pilot but reliability is my key requirement. I keep my cars for a long time and I cant deal with having it in the shop a lot. That's one of the reasons I've had Honda's and have to say they have been great.

I got a 2007 Acadia shortly after they first came out. We drove it on long trips, and I used it back and forth to school. DH's car was ready to be traded in 2009. He sold his car, and we bought a 2009 Acadia that I now drive. He drives the 2007. I still love both Acadias. If it were up to me, our next vehicle would be an Acadia. The gas mileage is not bad. There have been recalls over time, but we haven't had any issues with either one on problems. Both are SLTs. We have DVD players in both because we used them for travel, and we have a DS 7. I now have a power outlet in the second row of mine. My MIL has fibromyalgia and has considered getting one as well because of the lumbar support and heated seat options. Good luck in your decision. I love my car:)

thanks for all the help! the one i'm looking at is a 2008 but with the 100000 mile warranty and they add on an additional 12000 miles with whatever promo they are running right now i'm really leaning on trading.
my daughter fell in love with a tahoe they have but number 1, it's more expensive and number 2 it doesn't seem to have as much storage behind the third row seating.. so i'm back at the acadia... i haven't driven it yet so that will be the deciding factor, dh is off monday and we are going to test drive it then.. dd and i stopped by today so i could get her "approval", she's only 15 but she said i'd be sexy in the tahoe -she'll be driving soon..little kiss tail... so i needed to test the sexiness factor of the acadia and it passed..lol!!!!

My sister just had a similar situation, she had an Equinox, and it had over 150,00 miles on it with no problems but minor maintenance, when she went to look for something new, after comparing the two the Traverse was a little bit more but it had everything compared to the Equinox, she loves hers. She feels it drives so much better than her Equinox.

I am assuming by location that you may have a heart for GM. Same here.

Absolutely  I bleed bowties :lmao:

Also why I try to stay away from these threads... the inaccurate statements get to me.

The 2011 Acadia is rated 17 city/24 highway....I think that's pretty good for an 8-passenger vehicle.

I like the look of the Acadia's, but when push came to shove I stayed with another Pilot. I gave my 05 to my daughter and bought myself the 10. I did like the middle row captain's chairs in the Acadia, but the Pilot won me over. I also looked at a Tahoe, an Expedition (actually was favorite #2), and a 4 Runner.

There were plusses and minuses to all 5. I do love my new Pilot though.

Good luck with your decision!

I have the Traverse which is the Chevy equivalent. It was a 2009, I had it less then 18 mos, and I got rid of it. The handling was horrible. I had 3 Trailblazers prior which I LOVED and I was a GM girl through and through.

We had the AWD Traverse and it spun out all the time this past winter (I'm in Michigan). The suspension was crap too. I loved how roomy it was, but that was about it. The straw that broke me, was with 57,000 miles (yes, we drive alot), the check engine light came on. I took it in for that a few various other things. They had to pull the transmission, replace the driver door, replace the steering wheel and the struts on the liftgate! I didn't have alot of confidence keeping that car after that.

All my friends w/ the Acadia claim their cars handled great and the ride is smooth. But they are basically the same car. I can't see that much improvement happening.

So we jumped GM ship (we have a family discount) and went w/ the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I LOVE! But my husband and I agree, if GM brings back the Trailblazer we will be the first to buy it again! We loved that dang car :lovestruc
