GMC Arcadia advice?

I like the look of the Acadia's, but when push came to shove I stayed with another Pilot. I gave my 05 to my daughter and bought myself the 10. I did like the middle row captain's chairs in the Acadia, but the Pilot won me over. I also looked at a Tahoe, an Expedition (actually was favorite #2), and a 4 Runner.

There were plusses and minuses to all 5. I do love my new Pilot though.

Good luck with your decision!

Thank you for the input. We are hoping to test drive both this weekend.

We have test driven all the cars mentioned in this thread. Liked the Acadia a lot, especially since we are getting rid of our Odyssey. Like the captains chairs in the middle row. A co-worker raves about his Acadia and just got his second one. We loved the Buick Enclave, but did not like the $50K price tag. Liked the Pilot too - I think it has a bit more room in the back than the others. It drove the most trucklike to us. Hate the gas mileage on all of the crossovers. We are going with a Toyota Highlander Hybrid as soon as the dealer can get one in with all the stuff we want on it.

I just traded this car in. I enjoyed riding in truck. It has a lot of space. I did have problems with it. Several recalls including the seat belts, heated windshield fluid, and timing chain. I had to get my timing chain replaced.

op here...so we did it. traded my beloved equinox for the acadia. love it.. but it's only been two days :goodvibes.
lots of room! dh is almost 6 foot and his knees have breathing room to drive, which is great and he can actually sit in the second row without resembling a sardine.
ds picked the far back left for his car seat after we told him he could not put it in the very back. he's 5 and thinks he knows everything!
i am only 5'2" so i'm still getting used to it's height, little taller than the equinox..
anyway, thanks for the input! love the DIS!!!!!!

Thank you for the update, glad your happy with it! :) What color did you pick?

We bought a 2010 Acadia used from an individual a month and a half ago. Better price and it only had 17,000 miles. I LOVE my car so much. Everything that has been mentioned before id exactly right. You made a great decision!

I have a 2008 Acadia and I  it! My sister liked it so much, she just bought one, too! One reason I picked it was the option on the captain's chairs in the second row that allows for easy "walk thru" access to the 3rd row...with 2 carseats, I knew I wouldn't be able to fold up a seat for people to get to the back.

I haven't had any issues with it so far, and the customer service at the dealerships has been great. I think the gas mileage is pretty decent for the size, and I love the remote start and XM radio.

I was definitely a believer in foreign cars before I bought a GMC, but I'd highly recommend the Acadia. :thumbsup2

I also was looking into one, and my co-worker has a 2008 one and she said she's had a lot of problems with it. She said the check engine light comes on all the time, then theres nothing wrong, or they cant FIND anything wrong, etc. Granted, it may have just been that year's model but now I'm a little hesitant since our current Jeep has had a LOT of problems and I'm I don't want to go through those annoyances again.

My sister has a 2007 Acadia and she is having a problem with the check engine light. Turns out it is a problem with the timing chain and there was a recall issued for this problem. It is a major repair, but should be covered under the recall. She has an appointment to take it to the dealership very soon, so we'll see what happens.

Other than this issue, she hasn't had any other problems with it and she loves hers.

Mine is the same exact car 2009 but its a saturn outlook. Its been running great. They only thing was the lightbulb went out twice in one of my front lights.. I just bought a great extended warranty thru GM that will cover me additional 60,000 miles.. so Im not worried at all.. We have alot of room and travel all over in it..

OP, glad you were happy with your decision. We test drove the Pilot and Acadia yesterday and while I liked things about both vehicles I really liked the Acadia. (And I have 2 Honda's in my driveway right now).

The front of the Acadia was more rounded and I felt had better visability. I thought I would love the Pilot but the hood was so high and square it felt like a pick up truck to me. Not sure if I would just get used to it or not.

On pricing though the Pilot deal we have in place is a lot better so we'll have to see what the GMC dealership will offer us. It's really hard to compare the two on features because of how the model levels are set up.

Enjoy your new car!

We had a 2008 Saturn Outlook. We had to trade it. I was one of those who got terrible gas mileage. When the last gas price increase happened the 14mpg I was getting cost us too much. Funny a week after we traded it, we found out were were having DC #3. Now I look back and wish we wouldn't have traded it. Gas prices went back down and I loved that car over all. I'd buy another one if I would have be able to get slightly better MPG. I did hear that you do get better MPG once the car has been broken in, 10k+

We have the sister vehicle to the Acadia, the Traverse. We've had it almost 2 and a half years and I love it just as much today as the day we brought it home, brand new (35 miles on it). I love the extra room, how it drives, how smooth the ride is, how high up I sit, and the storage space.

LOVE it! Enjoy your new Acadia! :)
