Gmax Bday Trip: Expect the Unexpected! "Closing Time" Pg 15

Day 5 - Tuesday, June 9th

Today was my designated Sleep-In day! No Rope Drops!

Well, at 6:45am I started hearing a door slamming shut repeatedly as if someone was going in and out of a door(s) and letting it slam behind them. Then at 9am there was DRILLING on the other side of my wall. When I called the front desk, they told me that they were allowed to do construction after 9am, and that maybe it was just a quick fix next door. I HATED HER, DISNEY, AND THE WHOLE COMPLETE STAFF OF AKL!!!

Now that I was up, I called Candice. She was already at MGM, so I had no chance of riding Rockin Rollar Coaster with her. UGHHH!!! I called Antss to see what she was doing, but she didnt really know yet. So I was going with my original idea - go to Downtown Disney since it was a weekday, and not crowded. But later, I spoke to Candice again, and she was leaving MGM and on her way to the World Showcase. So that's what I did.

I met Candice at my favorite country - England - where much to my horror, they had gotten rid of the Old Country Roses display! WHAT THE WHAT?!!! All they had was a teacup and saucer! UGHHH!!!!

DUE TO TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, THIS INSTALLMENT WILL BE POSTPONED!!!!

Good Morning Glenda!
Whew...I am finally caught up. Wow girl, you sure get your TR installments done in a hurry. I'm impressed.:cool1:

Your trip looks like so much fun. Your dinsoaur pictures are a hoot. However, my favorite is the Splash Mtn one.:lmao:One day we will ride this together. I LOVE it; my favorite ride at MK. I could ride it over and over. Once during a MNSSHP (during the 1st parade) my family rode it 6 or 7 times - back to back to back. What fun!:woohoo:

Your pics of the castle are very nice...love the reflection shot.

I can't belive you never got to see lamagique. I guess this means she is back at WDW...I didn't know that. I will have to look for her in Oct.

The decor is very nice at Sanaa. If the portions are small and pricey my DH will not like it...he likes food and a lot of it!
Thanks for posting Candice. :thumbsup2 AK in the dark looks like so much fun. Something else to add to the list for Oct.

Antss...life is uncertain, eat dessert first! :goodvibes

The construction at 9 am while on vacation...well, that does stink!

Looking forward to more:woohoo:.

1) If the mac and cheese is artery clogging then that must be pretty darn good stuff. I <3 mac and cheese!!!

2) LOVE that bracelet you picked up in Mexico. That was one of the countries we didn't get around to, so I'll definitely have to stop there. Maybe I can find myself a little birthday present in there ...

I met Candice at my favorite country - England - where much to my horror, they had gotten rid of the Old Country Roses display! WHAT THE WHAT?!!! All they had was a teacup and saucer! UGHHH!!!! Good thing I can find OCR at Macy's!

As Candice and I started our walk around the world, my phone rang. It was Antss. "Hey Glenda I'm at Downtown Disney, where are you"? UGHHHH!!!! I guess she'd decided to pop up on me there, after I decided to pop up on Candice! Oh well . . .

Candice and I skipped France and stopped at Morocco. I love this country! When you walk in, it really makes you feel as if you've traveled to Morocco!

IMG_5022.jpg

Candice even found a Camel!

While I of course zoomed in on the jewelry! I bought a ring in 2 colors: brown and black. Unfortunantly, this pic doesn't do the ring justice! They are so cute. The rhinestone in the middle really gives it a nice touch!

IMG_5016.jpg

As we neared Japan, I paused to take a pic I usually do every year:

IMG_5023.jpg

Then we went into Japan, where Candice walked me around the gardens that I've never taken time to notice. We also checked out the shops and the pond.

IMG_5024.jpg

IMG_5025.jpg
IMG_5026.jpg

As we neared America, I realized that Hmmmm . . . . I was HOT! It was BLAZING!!! So we stopped there to pick up something to drink. I settled for a frozen lemonade. Candice thought it looked good, so she bought one too!

IMG_5027.jpg

IMG_5029.jpg
IMG_5030.jpg

IMG_5028.jpg

Then soon, we were off to Italy!

I took a pic like this in Italy YEARS ago. So hopefully I'll scan it in and place them side by side . . .

IMG_5032.jpg

And I had to find my favorite figurine: Santa AND Jesus! If this was cheaper, I'd buy it! I think it's soooo funny!

IMG_5033.jpg

Italy proved a good place for jewelry too. I bought a glass ring for myself (can't find the pic), and a hat pin for my Mother. She told me that she had the perfect hat to put it on!

With time winding down for Candice to meet the ME, we skipped Germany . . .

IMG_5034.jpg

. . . and we headed to my hometown, China!

Good lord Glenda! I'm away for a few days and you've totally plowed through this report. I'll be playing catch up with you today. One good thing about a speedy report is that you never keep us hanging too long. :thumbsup2

. . . Well, let me explain: Antss, who is Half Chinese took a quiz called "How Chinese Are You". Her results were "not at all". So she told me to take it. My results, "You Are Grade A Asian"! And in the dating quiz, it said that I should date Asian Men! HA! So we had to stop by my hometown!

China and Japan have really nice shops! Believe me, if I lived in Florida and didnt have to ship anything, I would buy LOTS of stuff! The Tea Services are REALLY nice!

With time ticking by, we left China, and cruised by the rest:

Norway . . .

IMG_5048.jpg
IMG_5049.jpg

And of course, my favorite, MEXICO!!!

IMG_5051.jpg
IMG_5050.jpg

IMG_5052.jpg

We headed out of the World Showcase together, where we would say our goodbyes . . . I was very glad that I changed my plans, and spent my Morning with Candice. I hadn't been around the WS in ONE trip in a long time. It was nice having her point out things that I'd never notice. Although it was sad saying goodbye to Candice, I realized that seeing her was a bonus! She was one of those Unexpected treats on my trip! I was glad that she booked a last minute trip!

Insted of leaving the park too, I realized that I hadn't been on Mission Space. So I stopped by for the NON-SPINNING version!

IMG_5054.jpg
IMG_5053.jpg

After landing safely on Mars, I headed to The Land to have lunch at Sunshine Seasons. . .

IMG_5058.jpg

It was still a bit early, so I headed over to Nemo! When I walked in the building, the line STARTED at the door! And you all know me . . . I turned right around and left!

Soon I would be back at my resort for a shower, a little TV, and new outfit!

IMG_5060.jpg

After a WONDERFUL break in the room, shower, and change, it was time to meet Antss and Pete at Boma for dinner. This is my MOST FAVORITIST restaurant! (yes, that's a word. HA!) I was excited, and hungry, so I didnt really take pics! OHHH!!!! I'm leaving something out:

Our reservation was for 5pm. I had not heard from Pete and Antss - well let's just call them "Pantts". By 5:15, I thought they were DEAD, because they too were looking forward to this meal. I BEGGED the ladies at the Boma desk to NOT give away my reservation, and that if they didnt show up, I would eat alone.

While waiting for Pantss, I spoke to one of my friends who has a Disney hook-up. (I will NOT mention your name in case you werent supposed to do this.) This person asked me where I was going that night after dinner, and how many people would be with me. Then they told me to check in with the Relations office once I got there - they would have something waiting for me! YAY!!! Now where the heck is Pantss?!!!

Finally at about 5:30, Pantss calls! They were at the theater seeing "UP"! They'd just gotten out of the movie, and were heading to their car. Pantss made it to Boma in about 20mins. So we were seated a little after 6pm. I informed them about the "hook up" later, and we ate as much as we possible could.

Now EVERY year when I go to Boma, I aske the server, "Are you serving the peanut rice tonight"? And every year they tell me that I missed it by ONE day. But this year was special, it was my bday! So I asked, and what did she say . . . . . I MISSED IT BY ONE DAY!!!! Oh H*LL NAW!!!!! WHAT THE $%&@!

I soon calmed down, ordered my "Jungle Juice", and proceeded to the buffet - trying not to move my lips as I was fussing to myself!

Well folks, this is what I love about Boma: I trust this place like a toddler being tossed into the air by the "fun Uncle". I saw something that looked like Mashed Potatoes with green leaf-like things in it. The sign above it said "corn and spinach pudding". Now, I'm not a real fan of mashed potatoes, I don't like spinach, and I don't like pudding, but this was BOMA! So I put some on my plate. I put a tiny bit on my fork . . . soft warm . . . I LOVED IT!!!! It was sooooo good! Like something you would want to eat when you have a bad cold or feel like crap and dont wanna chew, but you need to eat! HA! I LOVED IT!!! When the server came back, and I asked about it, she said that it was new, and on the buffet every night now! YAY! This more than made up for the peanut rice (which looks less-than apetizing also, but is GREAT!).

After we were full, I asked Pantss if we could come back the next night. After all, I had to have more of that Pudding, and I wanted the Peanut rice. Well they agreed. I just had to check with DISer Angela, because MONTHS ago, she made reservations for us to eat at 1900 Park Fare for my bday! There's no phone service in Boma, so I had to wait till after we left to call her.

Full to the gills, we were about to leave when the server bought me a Bday dessert. I dont remember mentioning that this was a bday trip, but this was really nice . . .

IMG_5061.jpg
IMG_5064.jpg

It was cake incased in chocolate with a little bit of rasberry filling.

After ROLLING out of Boma, I called DISer Angela, she was fine with me eating at Boma, but, she couldnt come :( She'd been at WDW with her son all week, and had a change of plans for tomorrow night. So we would try to meet up the next day at MK!

After leaving AKL's Jambo house, we drove to MGM. Our first stop, Guest Relations! There I received Fast Passes for 2 rides, and a voucher for free popcorn! THANK YOU MY FRIEND WITH THE HOOK UPS! HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS!

With FPs in hand, Pantss and I headed to Tower of Terror so THEY could ride. Of course they tried to talk me into it - NO WAY!

Then it was onto Rockin Rollar Coaster. I nearly had a panic attack when I saw the cars taking off!

what if i get sick? what if its wayyyyy worse than I remembered. last time i was on this i had just broken up with my BF and was depressed. i'm not depressed now. maybe these fastpasses should be used for good, NOT evil. i see spots. where am i? mommy . . .

Soon, Antss was calming me down, and reminded me that I said that I liked it the last time. oh god. So I stayed in the line. As I climbed in the car, my mouth went dry. I AM STUPID!!!

The little handles you're supposed to hold onto were TINY! So I wrapped my hands around the harness. Meanwhile, Pete is beside trying to make small talk . . . SHUT UP I'M ABOUT TO DIE NEXT TO AN INTERNET STRANGER!!!

I focused on the traffic light, remembering that it would take off when the light turned green. This time I didnt even bother to pray. I was alone, and about to die. . .
Three . . . Two . . . One . . . .

The take off is harsh, but the still not as bad as the sound effects. They just make it seem HORRIBLE. Now after I managed to pry my eyes open - they slammed shut involuntarily - I was able to see all the cool signs, and hear the music. It was just OK. I think the "I'm Gonna Die" feeling I get in line, will always be, so I need to stop riding it! Besides, this ride flips and turns soo much, that when I get off, I still feel shaky. So this may have been my last RnR ride.

IMG_5069.jpg
IMG_5070.jpg

It was our intention that night to see Fantasmic, but 30mins before the show, a CM announced that it was standing-room only. So with extra time on our hands, I suggested that we check out Toy Story Mania (TSM). After all, with all those folks heading over to Fantasmic, the line HAD to be shorter. Well, Pantss was skeptical, but I told them that since we were close to it, it wasnt like we would be going out of our way to check. So we went.

When we got there, there was NO LINE! We were able to walk inside! YAY!!!

IMG_5075.jpg
IMG_5072.jpg

A guy in line decided to join me in my pic!

IMG_5076.jpg

We were getting closer, time to put my Game Face on!

IMG_5077.jpg

IMG_5081.jpg
IMG_5082.jpg

Pete beat me!

IMG_5079.jpg
IMG_5080.jpg

On the way out, we were STILL excited that we'd managed to ride, so we took more pics!

IMG_5083.jpg
IMG_5084.jpg
IMG_5085.jpg

As we were leaving the park, Antss stopped in one of the shops, while Pete and I waited on a bench. We were facing some palm trees. I told Pete that in a few days, we wouldn't be seeing Palm Trees everyday. I tell ya, the things you take for granted on vacation!

IMG_5088.jpg

This was an exciting, fun evening indeed. And we all left the park ready for bed!

But do you know what the next day is? MY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Go to Page 12, Post #175

I'm busy for a few days and look at the updates! Wow! OK so where to start? Just some random thoughts:

I can never do Everest again. I won't go into huge detail but it includes, screaming, whimpering and a lot of nausea! I told Candice30 about it on her latest TR if you want to know more.

I have heard good things about Cape May. I think that's a next time place to go, then to Jelly Rolls afterwards (I hate bars but I just LOVE JR's!) I love that whole area! It's just so fun!

I love your castle shots from MK! We got some around the same angle but I think yours are better. Was the sun going down around that time? It just seems so glowy (if that's a word).

Love love love the new additions to HM. That bride just creeps me out every time. "We're DYING to have you! Make FINAL arrangements now!" Shivers!

Unfortunately with the rain and heat during our trip we never got to do BTM. :( Made me so sad.

Soarin' is the best ride Disney has ever done (well in our family it is!). I actually rode that in Disneyland before it came to WDW but I couldn't smell anything then because I had a horrible head cold. Puddy rules the pre-show!

When Obama won the election everyone at my work was the opposite - we freaked out - in a good way! We even pulled out a tv from one of the conference rooms and watched his speech from Grant Park.

The Lion King makes me cry! I cry during the movie so the show shouldn't be any different right? Those songs just blow me away every time live.

Dinosaur rules! I love it even better than the Indiana Jones ride they have at Disneyland! I lolve how Hodges from CSI is in the pre-show! I kept expecting Grissom to come around the corner and give him some snarky comment.

I gotta say you guys look like a blast to hang out with! I go with my older sister all the time and it's fun and all but it's great having others around to share the experience with ya know?

Looking forward to more!

Sorry about EE! I'll check out Candice's report!

Cape May is good. I wish I could try their breakfast!

Yes, the sun was going down when I took the pics.

When you're in the last room before you board the Doom Buggies on HM, try to leave the room last so you can hear all of the sound effects.

Glad you had a Fun experience after the election. Me - I just tried to walk with my head straight, and NOT smile!

Hi Glenda. Another great installment. Loving the pics and video!!

I have to say that I would have been right with you, exiting that long Test Track line. I have never really allowed myself to check out the jewelry in Mexico, but I did buckle and get one of the bags a couple of years ago. I have a bag "thing". Anyway, the first time I visited Norway, I found myself under the spell of Laila. I didn't get it, though, because it was so expensive and I had other goodies to buy that trip. I did end up getting it later, though. And, now, I don't love it as much as I used to. :confused3

I'm surprised you're not still excited about Laila - maybe just give it a break, and you'll like it again. As for the lines - I just can't!
______________________________________________________________

your wish is my command....uploading sanaa photos now...hopefully i can have them posted by tonight.

btw...pete has no choice but to get over it...obama won....case closed...move on buddy!

HA! Let's not upset Pete! Thank you soooo much for posting those pics! Dontcha just LOVE that bathroom!
_______________________________________________________________

Still lovin' your TR!!!! You can never see enough of the Lion King! EMH at AK....never done that! Sounds like EE is great at night! :thumbsup2 Thanks Candice for your pics!!! Great!

hmmm....sounds like an interesting idea! :rolleyes1 Please let me know the date!

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying my report! :cutie:

The DISmeet is the last Saturday in July in Atlantic City. That's all I know right now. I guess I need to find out some details . . .
_________________________________________________________

i will send you a PM about this. ;)

yes, i can! for some reason all manners and common sense go out the window with some people at disney world.

:rotfl2: that's hilarious! i also think that they have brer fox and brer bear in some really suggestive poses on that ride, too. next time you ride it pay attention and you'll crack up.

very cool that you got to see the storm troopers up there! i showed it to ray (my hubby) because i know there's no chance we'll ever see it ourselves since it's always in june. we don't do heat AND crowds. ain't gonna happen! so it's nice to see the videos.

yep, i was right. we'll NEVER go in june!!!!! :lmao:

either that's a really bad picture or she's just not very attractive! i'm sure she would be REALLY happy to see this on the internet! :rotfl:

i totally agree! i rode this once and i think it's so lame. but it's a favorite of many dissers. go figure!

i'm so proud of you that you ride this with no hestitation now! i remember the conversation we had over dinner at boma last year and erica and i were trying to convince you that the drop on EE was way worse than on splash. glad you enjoy it so much now!

i really want to go to AK at night on the next trip! and for those two reasons. i hear it's just beautiful at night and i can't wait to try EE in total darkness!

Happy Belated Birthday! I'm enjoying your TR. Can't wait for more.
-Got your PM! You AND Vandyfan sent me one! HA!
-Yes, people can be soooo rude!
-When Pete went on Splash Mountain with me, he pointed out all of the Rated X stuff on the ride! That was even worse than "Show me your Alls"!
-Even though the crowd was a bit thick, it wasnt horrible, cuz I'd just been there in Sept, and I'm going back in Dec. I just feel sorry for those whom it was their first time, and last in a LONG time!
-I STILL get a bit nervous on Splash, but so glad the "drop" isn't bad!
- The Movie Ride - Disney should be ashamed! Universal Studios is NOT that far away . . .
-I hope you get a chance to do AK at night. It's usually only once a week :(

Good lord Glenda! I'm away for a few days and you've totally plowed through this report. I'll be playing catch up with you today. One good thing about a speedy report is that you never keep us hanging too long. :thumbsup2

That's right! I can't stand clif-hangers, and people who dont update for WEEKS! I hope you enjoy my latest installments!

Great update. Your ride on RnR helped me see it through my DS's eyes. Poor kid, the DH made him ride it last time we were at DHS.

I love Morocco also. If you knew how many times I had just walked past it and never explored it.:sad2:

That dessert at Boma looked fantastic and too cool about the FP's and the free Popcorn.

Don't feel too bad for your son, he's young - maybe he'll get used to it!

Wait till you go in Morocco! You're gonna love it!

Hope you have a great day! Thanks for posting! :goodvibes

Oh my goodness! I am laughing so hard my sides hurt! I am all caught up and just wish I had gotten over here sooner!

You are a woman after my own heart -- the whole bit about Rock n' Roller Coaster is exactly why I will not ride it -- I don't like those feelings of approaching death!

And your descriptions of Boma -- yes, it is our favorite restaurant on Disney property! (I won't mention that they did indeed have the peanut rice on Thursday night when we went.) I am pretty sure they did anyway -- I consume so much food when I am there that I may be getting it mixed up with something else.

We were in the same parks several times -- Saturday: MK, Sunday: AK, Monday: Epcot, Tuesday: DHS...I kept looking in the background of your photos to see if we were appeared, but no dice. :(

OH! And while Kim was shopping a couple of days before, since she spent whatever was the required amount, I got the $15 watch . . .

IMG_5441.jpg

i meant to ask you about this earlier. so is this the "gift with purchase" right now at disney? i heard it was a blanket or something. i have a friend who's going in july and i want her to buy me a mickey gnome and i want to give her extra money to get me this if it's still available. do you know how much you have to spend?

Great update! Glad you found a new treat at Boma. We have only been there once and I liked all the different dishes. Trying to remember the anme of the soup I really enjoyed...:confused3

Thanks for the tip on TSM~may have to try that strategy.

Hi GlendaMax! I've been a lurker before on your TR, so I decided to check in this time. I'm lovin' your TR! What a fun Birthday Trip. I loved AKL when we stayed there - definately a must do.
