We've been home for a week from an awesome 10 days is Disneyland :cloud9:

My SIL is battling Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & is off to DL in a couple of days, she has found that a Gluten Free & Low Protein diet is helpful for her, does anyone have any tips for dining at Disneyland with this sort of Diet?

TIA

At any of the Table Service Restaurants that I work, we'll be happy to have a Chef come out and discuss your concerns and how we can accommodate them (I work at Blue Bayou, Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, and Carnation Cafe - I assume the other restaurants do the same). I know that Redd Rockett's Pizza Port has gluten free pizza dough available, and other locations have gluten free buns.

My daughter and I both have Celiac disease, the only treatment at this point for it is a strict gluten free diet. We absolutley love going to the disneyland resort or disneyworld resort because we have found that eating gluten free at either is very easy! Disney is really up to par when it comes to dietary needs and when we go to either park or the hotels we find that we have no worries when it comes to eating gluten free unlike many other outings in the world we take. The key to eating gluten free at the parks or at the hotel resorts is to speak up and let the staff know your special dietary needs. You will find that not only will they be very helpful but that it almost feels as though you are being treated like royalty. There are many options at the resorts for gluten free and one of our favorites is to eat at Story Tellers Cafe at The Grand Californian and if Chef Chris is there he will for sure do you up right....he is amazing!!!!! On our recent trip we were able to enjoy one of his new gluten free inventions Gluten Free Onion Rings!!!!
So rest easy and know that you will be in good hands when it comes to eating gluten free at disneyland, and most importantly Enjoy your Trip!!!

We haven't been to DL yet, but have booked some priority seatings for our upcoming Thanksgiving Trip and I inquired about GF (as well as dairy, soy and nut free) offerings for my DS, who is on a restricted diet due to food allergies. They made a note of my son's allergies on our reservations, and said that the chef will come to our table to consult with us about his choices. I'd suggest that if your SIL has any table service reservations that she do the same, it always helps the chefs to know ahead of time (I think it helps them managing their kitchen to have a heads up of special requests, plus gets us the 'royal treatment' in service.) In fact, during our last WDW trip, we had a table service reservation at a pasta place and they had the GF pasta ready to go as soon as we got there!!

We've travelled a fair amount since DS has been on a restricted diet, and in our experience, Disney is by far one of the most accomodating destinations for special diets--the chefs and kitchen staff are well-trained in avoiding cross-contamination, they really bend over backwards to have tasty substitutes for gluten items, and we've never had a negative experience. I hope your SIL has a great trip :D
