Apologies if this has already been answered somewhere...I found some very dated threads but nothing recent.

We will be on the Magic doing a Western Caribbean cruise in June with excursions at Cozumel. Two of my kids are celiac (gluten free) and would not be comfortable eating a lunch provided off the ship by whatever excursion we end up doing in Cozumel. If we request it onboard, will Disney pre-package a gluten free lunch that they can take off the ship with them on the excursion?

I don't know if they can do this as I don't believe food can be taken off the ship unless it's pre-packaged things like snacks, etc.

Someone else may know better though.

Since you cannot take anything ike fruit or veggies off ship, there will be a big challenge there.

I recommend bringing pre-packaged items you are comfortable with and supplementing with fruit/veg off ship. It's okay to eat the fruit/veg in port, you just cannot take any on or off ship.

I don't think the ship will provide a meal for you to take off. I eat GF too and I usually will just pack extra pre-packaged snacks such as apple sauce, protein bars, dried fruit, chips etc. for excursions. I had no problem finding GF food in port near the ship in Cozumel as a lot of traditional Mexican cuisine is GF.

Food needs to be factory sealed, I have 2 celiac kids, we bring bars and such from home.
Do they have factory sealed items on the ship that we could take with us off board? Or do we need to bring it all from home?

Probably from home. There isn’t much prepackaged served food onboard. Possibly potato chips or boxed cereal. Not sure if they would be celiac safe though.

I feel like this is either confusion/rumor or a (very) outdated thing. Someone told me the same thing on a cruise critic board (it was a whole "heard it from a friend" thing), which led to other people saying there was no way that could happen when you can't take unsealed food of a ship. Maybe they used to do that on Castaway Cay?

We bring lots of bars, nuts, etc. with us.
