Asked about this on the dining board, was told I should ask here.

Seems like I read, or heard, not too long ago that restaurants have gluten free options that you can request. Like for a counter service burger/hot dog you can ask for a gluten free bun. And meals at sit-down restaurants can be modified, like maybe a pasta dish that can be made with gluten free pasta. Is this correct?

Both DD and I are sensitive to gluten so we need to watch our intake of it, so if we have those options we want to be able to take advantage of them. Thanks.

Seems like gluten is one of the more common allergens out there, and according to Disney's website, they are making specific accommodations in regards to it. We are not allergic to gluten, but I do know that Disney does everything they can to make sure you will have a safe alternative. I would just about bet that most places offer gluten free items. For instance, I've read that Cosmic Ray's in MK offers gluten free hot dog buns and hamburger buns. But, it's always best to check with a CM first. I would think that you will be fine handling that allergy there. :thumbsup2

WDW is the best place you'll ever dine gluten free. Honest.

Do a search on gluten on this board and you'll find lots and lots of threads about gluten free dining at WDW. You'll feel so much more confident and excited about your trip once you do. I've got a bunch of dining reviews linked in my signature if you're interested and don't want to have to search though in our case we're free of a heck of a lot more than gluten. Even with our lists of intollerances and allergies we've still had a lot of amazing meals at WDW.

Hi MIGrandma!

I found a website that offers a list of GF food options when visiting Disney World!

http://www.allergyfreemouse.com/dining/gluten-free-at-walt-disney-world-parks/

Hope that helps! :)

I have been diagnosed as celiac for my last three trips to the world. Everywhere I have stopped to eat or had reservations at have had plenty of options for me. They also have a special dedicated fryer for French fries if that interests you! All you do is, once its your turn to order you tell the person inputting the orders that you both have an allergy, they will call for a supervisor who will come up to you and show you exactly what you can and cannot have, what they can modify. They then call into the kitchen through a device what you want and then tell you, about 90% of the time that they will personally bring the order up as soon as its done.

We just came back and I'm gluten free. I ate the best I have eaten in a long time! I was able to eat so many things that I normally don't have access to, like chicken pot pie, chicken fingers and burgers/sandwiches on BREAD! REAL SANDWICHES!

In my experience, every manager and chef I talked to was so super helpful and more than happy to help. My meals generally took a little longer, but it ended up being so worth it. Definitely search through all the gluten info here on the Dis, and when you're at the world, make sure to stop by the Allergy Info stand at AK. They have binders with info for all the different restaurants at the world and give you your options from all those places!
