Celiac, Gluten-Free Opinions on ANY DISNEY WORLD restaurants, please. Which are your favorites?

Here are a few I'd like to try:

Sanaa
San Angel Inn
Citricos
Jiko
Boma
Flying Fish Cafe
LeCellier

Thank you so much! This will be my first time traveling to Disney gluten-free.

All the ones you have listed, other than San Angel Inn, are Disney owned and operated so there should not be any problems there. San Angel is independently owned and you may not get the same quality of dietary assistance as at the actual Disney locations.

Wow -- I didn't know San Angel wasn't Disney owned and operated. That's interesting.

copperbrick, we are also going to WDW this year with our 9 year old who is Celiac. We did the trip a couple of years ago and never had any problems. All of the restaurants were more than accommodating. We are also looking at Le Cellier, so if you get any feedback, please let us know.

I will! I am going the first week in October. If you're going after that, watch for my posts. I'm looking forward to posting reviews.

My sister has celiac and she had a very good experience eating at Le Cellier. They brought out tapioca rolls for her and the meal that she got was naturally gluten-free, so there was no problem there. She had the mushroom filet mignon. The chef brought out the meal to her personally. The creme brulee dessert is gluten-free and really good.

She hasn't been to Boma since being diagnosed with celiac, but she had heard good things on here about a Chef TJ from Boma.

I've read that the bread varies from location to location. Does anyone have a favorite place for gluten-free bread?

I'm considering changing our San Angel reservations. Has anyone tried gluten-free there?

i dont have celiacs but i do have severe allergies, and have eaten at all the places you mentioned.
chef TJ at boma was alegend, he cooked me something soooo good my son at most of it;) - as well as having ASD he is is also an awful eater.
LC was also good, when you book tell them straight away and then the head chef visits you at the table. excellent service everywhere we went, service was sooo good at cm they couldnt find anything i could eat so they went down to the wave and got me something:worship:

Hi! I have eaten at all of these restaurants GF except for Sanaa and haven't had any issues at all. I have reviews posted in my signature for a bunch of them and particularly recommend Citricos and Jiko as their chefs have gone above and beyond to make me safe and delicious meals. Also if you're heading over to DTD at all, I highly recommend having lunch on the Turf Club patio at SSR. Chef Ron is one of my favorites for allergy awareness (lots of pics in the dining reviews). Have a great trip!

I have eaten there last Dec, but that was before they did the renovations. I haven't heard great things about the food since then. When I went in Dec. '08, it was OK. I don't think the chefs were overly impressive in terms of allergy awareness, but Mexican is usually pretty safe for celiac (because a lot of the food is corn based and there's not an overuse of flour). If you really had your heart set on it, I would still go, but there are prob other places that would give you a more unique experience.

Also I think Chef TJ is now at O'hana - he's supposed to be amazing for allergies, but I haven't ever eaten there so I don't have any first hand info.

Chef Ron is the best! He always makes an effort to make my sister basically whatever she is in the mood for, but gluten-free, even if it not on the menu. He is a great guy.

I do not know anything about Chefs at Boma. If I'm reading this correctly: TJ and LC are no longer there ("was good"), or are they still there and I am mis-reading?:confused3 Thank you so much!

Chef Ron: Good enough to forget about the dining plan and pay full price?

Wow -- I need to investigate this Chef further! Thank you.

GREAT tips, thank you. Chef TJ - also, thanks. Wow, there is so much information coming in about Chefs. Where can I go to learn more about GF Chefs, where they are and how good they are? Any additional help from anyone appreciated.

I can't thank everyone enough for the excellent assistance here! I am learning so much. It is so comforting to know that I can go to WDW gluten-free with a lot of love and support -- both from friends here as well as Disney. Thank you for all your posts and posts-to-come.

You know, this gluten-free thing is more a blessing than a curse, don't you think? Look at the fellowship we have here . . . look at the way one person reaches out to another . . . giving up gluten is NOTHING compared to the caring GF folks show to one another.

Everything happens for a reason, so they say.

Wow -- I need to investigate this Chef further! Thank you.

He has been our chef at both the Turf Club and at Artist Palette.

At Artist Palette, we especially love the buffalo chicken fingers he makes us, with gluten-free fries or chips. She has also had a gluten-free ham and cheese sandwich. I know my dad had something special made for breakfast, but I can't remember.

We ate lunch at the Turf Club. I had a GF hamburger and fries (on a bun and everything). My sister had Grilled Rib-Eye Steak Sandwich. We liked both!

Chef Ron was even telling us once that he was making special food for a boy who had recently broken his jaw. He was pureeing hamburgers and other foods for him to drink. He also did the same with cheesecake and he said it was delicious.

He really goes above and beyond. I recommend him highly.

Anyone had any experience dining GF at this CS restaurant? From looking at the menu, I was thinking it could easily handle my DD's needs, but its not on the list I got from Disney Dining. I e-mailed them back and they said the Chef would be getting in touch with me, but I haven't heard yet. I'd really like to go here for lunch when we are there, but don't want to exclude my daughter.
:confused3

I'm hoping to hear about Cinderella's Royal Table and Tokyo Dining (any chance of sushi?). Anybody have any experiences at either of these? Is Tokyo Dining Disney owned?

I recently ate at Jiko and Boma with gluten and lactose intolerances. I would have to say that Jiko was amazing. They brought out a "special" menu that they make for certain food issues. The chef brought out the lactose intolerance menu and then showed me which items (which were pretty much everything) could be made gluten free as well. The dip sampler was great. They gave me 1 different dip (chermoula) and gave the regular dip (marsala, which contains dairy) to my mom. Then I got pampadams and she got a regular bread basket. I honestly didn't miss the bread...the pampadams were fantastic and the dip was so addicting. I got the Swahili curry shrimp, which was very good. Except for the peas in it, it was perfect. (I have Crohn's so corn and peas aren't very easy to digest) I didnt get dessert, but they had a fruit/sorbet option.

Boma was good; they made me gluten free/dairy free french toast (yummy!) and an omelet, but the chef was the one I encountered the day before at the Mara. He kept forgetting that I had dairy and gluten and kept trying to give me dairy laden options. (last I knew mac and cheese has dairy in it LOL)

Overall, my dining experiences were really great. The chefs at all the locations were fabulous and very accomodating. The dessert brownie at CP was AMAZING...couldn't tell it was gluten/dairy free...could have licked the plate...seriously!
