I will be on a cruise for the first time needing gluten free options. I spoke to a special diets person yesterday who told me I could only get gluten free options from the main dining area. I thought I had read a while back that someone was able to get a pizza from the quick service area. Also that they were able to get soft serve ice cream from Deck 11. According to this guy I won't be able to. I would like to be able to have a snack or two somewhere. I'm also staying concierge. I'm a little bummed at this point with only weeks left until my trip. I'm not a constant eater, but would like to have options other than the main dining room.

Here's a thread from the Cruise Line Forum: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3261460
You can probably find others if you look there.

I believe the "allergy kitchen" is connected to the MDRs, not the quick-serve locations up on the pool deck. So cross-contamination may be a concern from those locations, even if GF food is available. I think availability of GF items may vary from cruise-to-cruise (possibly ship-to-ship), so it's important to have it noted on your reservation so DCL is aware of the need for GF foods on your specific cruise date.

Enjoy your cruise!

Hi! We found that they were able to accommodate us at the restaurants (all of them). I never tried to just walk up to a quick serve by the pool. We did just "walk in" to a lunch, though, and that worked fine. I was disapointed with the food on board in that it was boring. Everything I ate was really pretty bland. BUT they can make some accommodations. I found that worked best if you were clear about what you wanted (ie; gluten free pizza crust, or rolls, or other) at the first meal with your regular servers, and then they will be able to help plan for your next meal. For example, I wanted rice milk (or any non dairy milk) at the main breakfast buffet and they told me they didn't have any up there, but if we wanted it for the remainder of the trip, they would have it brought up. I found that alerting them before we sailed didn't make a difference for my experience. That may not be the same for everyone.
Still, I did have plenty to eat!
I posted photos of my cruise food here .
Come back and share your experience with us! It would seem like they'd have something for you at the concierge level?

I will take pictures and give a report. I'm planning on bringing some gluten free Tamari sauce ( tastes like soy sauce ) with me. My local food store sells the individual packets. I'm hoping to get some creme brulee, that is my favorite and quite simple to make gluten free.
