I'm looking for a character breakfast where my youngest could have gluten-free, soy-free Mickey Waffles!

I've been reading lots of posts...and I've heard that some restaurants serve Van's gluten-free waffles, but my daughter is allergic to Van's because they contain soy flour.

I read a post where some restaurants can make fresh Mickey Waffles with Bob's Red Mill and she can eat that pancake / waffle mix (we have it at home all the time!) ... but now I can't find that post!

We've narrowed it down to three choices - Tusker House (Donald's Safari Breakfast), Cape May Cafe, and Chef Mickey's.

Thanks in advance!

It's been a while since I was there on a trip with my friend and her celiac kiddo, but it seems like he was able to get some pancakes (waffles, maybe?) at Ohana and at Crystal Palace. Not sure about Chef Mickey's since we tend to avoid that place in general, but the Cape May chef was very helpful at dinner, so I imagine they could probably be just as accomodating at breakfast?

Have you had your needs attached to your ADRs? You can contact Disney Dining and they can provide you with a huge amount of information and assistance. In most cases, if you have this type of issue noted on your ADR, a chef will meet you at your table and walk you through what's safe and what's not, and what they can do for you to get around it. They brought my little friend fresh plates from the kitchen when eating at Crystal Palace and Boma so he could avoid any chance of problems.

Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys said they would do them but we declined the offer that day.

I would suggest calling the restaurant at least the day before and mentioning specifically mentioning that you would like these. I don't know the nature of your son's GF diet, but if cross contamination is an issue, they have to clean out a waffle iron to do this. If traces of gluten are not an issue, mention this too as this will make it easier and quicker. Also, for this reason it may be helpful if you make an off peak ressie although the chefs are wonderful anyways. :goodvibes I must admit we are fortunate not to have cross contamination issues as DD is not celiac so not sure if this made it easier for them to make them. Another thing I learned is don't promise your DS that he will be getting mickey waffles - in the event that they are unable to honor your request for any reason, at least he won't be disappointed.

I know that we have had gluten free mickey waffles at Cape May, the food court at CBR, O'Hana and at the Saratoga Springs Resort. I think they made them at Donald's breakfast at the Restaurantasaurus before they moved it to the Tusker House. I can't actually remember having a character breakfast without the GF mickey waffles. Have a great vacation...I am sure you will find those waffles somewhere! I only remember Van's waffles being at POP century food court and the Trail's End at FW.
