Hi -

Does anyone have a copy of what's included on the gluten free menu at Jiko?

thanks!

There is not a "gluten-free menu". A chef will come out and discuss the menu with you and let you know what is or is not safe. They will also be able to modify some of the dishes with alternate ingredients.

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

thanks!

yep, they have a special menu for GF and another one for dairy free as well. :thumbsup2
I felt so pampered and special when they brought these out. It was so nice not to have to think about it, and everything tells you up front what's included and not.

The food there is fantastic!
I had an amazing meal there in August.

We had the dip sampler (with a substitute dip and pampadams as "bread") and I ordered the Swahili Shrimp. I did not get dessert, as my only GF and dairy free option was fruit sorbet, but i did get tea and that was divine! :worship:

I have pictures on my blog if you want to see some of the items served there.
You won't regret eating there; it's one of my favs!

I was really glad to come across this thread as I was thinking about Jiko for our anniversary dinner in May. DH just found out he is gluten and dairy allergic so I am very new to this stuff!

FYI, I hopped over to snorris49's blog (awesome) referenced in her siggy above, and there is a recent review of Jiko (from Feb 2011) that is *not* so favorable. Seems like some changes have taken place there. I might be looking for somewhere else to dine w/my GF/DF DH! :sad2:
