I was just diagnosed with Celiac's. I am bummed because I am worried that I will not be able to eat any desserts on our trip. I know all about eating fruits, and the popsicles, etc. What I am looking for is special desserts. Will the chefs make you a special dessert like a cake if you call ahead? I did a search and could not find anything about desserts and I have already been to the allearsnet web site. I am looking for first-hand experience. TIA!

My 2 year old son has gluten allergy. We have a great contact person.
She will make gluten free desserts available at every park for my son.

Thank you........
A member of our extended family trip has Celiac - I am sure this will help. :)
Thanks.

We have three folks who can't tolerate gluten in our party. I called Disney Dining and got an email address for CS options. That person asked my permission to search my ADRs and have restaurants contact me. I've gotten emails, phone calls - with one exception so far - the response has been very positive. I'm not worried about missing out on desserts, there's a fair number of flourless cakes available, they can get gluten free cake mixes (I want to say GF pantry, but I'm not looking at the email) with advance notice, there's gluten free bread available at some restaurants, gluten free pasta, etc. Call the restaurants, email the restaurants, ask what they can do.

So far, I've been really pleased - then again, my trip isn't until the end of september. ;)

And, at Donald's Breakfast in AK, they brought my ds a HUGE plate of GF/EF Mickey Pancakes. They were great. I felt guilty that he filled up on potatoes and bacon and only ate one pancake. Oh well! LOL

This is my first ever post! My 9 yr old daughter has been diagnosed for 3 years, and we've had two trips to Disney during that time. The most recent was this past April.

Chef Mickey's is her favorite, and is especially fond of Chef Rafael who we've had the good fortune to be working all times we've been there (breakfast and dinner). Chef Rafael has made her gluten free chocolate cake, as well as her all time favorite GF treat from WDW.. deep fried french toast rolled in cinnamon sugar that tasted just like a fresh donut.

She had milkshakes for dessert most places we dined mainly because she really loves milkshakes. I do believe they had similar variations of the chocolate cake most places.

We did have some specialty desserts made up from the Grand Floridian Bakery for a fireworks cruise. They made her the Cinderella slipper dessert and she was totally thrilled.

Please let me know if I can answers any more questions on Gluten Free Dining.

We had Chef Rafael also! What a great guy. He says that providing options for food allergic people is just "Part of the Magic!" :wizard:

Yesterday I sent an e-mail to Brenda Bennett about the dessert "problem" that I was running into. My husband has Celiac & was worried about his desserts. I have received an e-mail from Theresa at Epcot & this is what she had to say:

I would recommend Liberty Inn located in American Adventure at Epcot. They can gluten-free products such as gluten-free hamburger/hot dog buns (Gluten-free Pantry), pizza (Amy's), brownies and vanilla cake - no diary products (Gluten-free Pantry). We also have a chocolate flourless cake that is gluten-free but has dairy. Rice Dream milk and ice cream are available also.

Please call or email me with any questions or concerns.

Enjoy your stay!

I will post any other answers I get regarding this subject. I hope this helps some. I have lots of info so let me know if you need anything else. I have also posted this on another Celiac thread.

This is what Brenda Bennett had to say about having gluten free desserts with your counter service meal in MK:

Here in the MAGIC KINGDOM Park the chefs make gluten-free brownies, if they know where you want to dine and the approximate time. They mentioned they need at least a 12 hour notice in order to make them.

Thanks,
Brenda

I'll continue to post more when I hear back from AK & MGM.

We got back a few weeks ago, and I was just reminded of this thread. Desserts weren't an issue at all at TS locations. Chocolate mousse, creme brule of various flavors, some really good sorbet at Chefs De France, etc. Liberty Tree Tavern had pamela's brownies, Chef Mickey's had flourless chocolate cake hat was amazingly good. They just selected GF desserts from the menu, or adapted ones that weren't GF most of the time. I had the cobbler, no cobbler at Artist Point for example. A lovely bowl of house made black raspberry ice cream with fresh berries. It was amazingly good, and capped the meal nicely.

Desserts at CS were seriously lacking on the dining plan, but I really didn't need or want dessert at every meal, so that was ok. I just had fruit at CS. Dole Whips, ice cream, mickey bars, monkey tails, and a whole host of other sweet options were available as snack credits or off the plan. Pop Century had GF donuts one morning, but you had to ask for them, and they were gone quickly.
