I was just wondering if anyone has dined gluten free at HDDR. If so, what GF options did they offer? Thank you!

Yes we have, in fact this August will be our third time doing HDDR. Our sons are gluten, dairy and egg free. The chef was very nice, we had a choice of hot dogs or allergy free chicken tenders. We also got french fries. I think the beans are OK, but our boys were never interested in them. They also serve salad with no dressing, you can get oil and vinegar with that. For dessert the kids got plain strawberrries instead of strawberry shortcake.

To be on the safe side you should call them ahead of time and talk to one of the chefs.

We've eaten there twice. We got baked or rotisserie chicken (not sure which it was but definitely wan't breaded and/or fried), ribs, beans and salad without dressing (I think we were offered oil & vinegar or some kind of vinegrette but my kids don't like those). The first time we were offered the standard brownies we got everywhere else and the second time we were served Tofutti ice cream with fresh strawberries.

One of the vegetarian choices they offered me was a plate of grilled vegetables, which was absolutely delicious.

I am so glad to read this - we all really want to go here as well, and have a Celiac/DF to, and then my oldest and I are GF/CF as well -sounds like they can feed us ya!

I'm on the SCD, so no grains, sugers, milk, or potatoes. The biggest problem I had dining out was at HDDR. I told them of my dietary restrictions when I made the reservation. I spoke with the chef over the phone before we went. When I was seated, I gave the server a card that briefly describes what is allowed and not allowed.

The server had dyslexia and couldn't read the card. He simply didn't bring me any food. After quite a while of waiting, I asked for a salad with no dressing. I was really enjoying the show, but couldn't eat. I asked to speak to the chef, but he never came out. By the time dessert came around I was really frustrated. I asked them for some strawberries, but had to take them to go. The show was over. I never made a scene, but I can tell you, I was really disapointed. Once we got outside, the manager rushed up and appologized, and credited us the meal. so, alls well that ends well, but it was a bad memory.

I just wanted to share that I spoke with a chef at HDDR last night. Here's what he said will be available for us.

baked chicken
ribs
beans
salad
baked potato with Earth Balance margarine (for those who are only gluten intollerant and not dairy you should be able to have the mashed potatoes)
corn (for those who are only gluten intollerant and not dairy intollerant it'll be served as-is but for us it'll be plain)
Tofutti ice cream (chocolate and/or vanilla) with fresh strawberries (for those who are only gluten intollerant and not dairy you'll likely get regular ice cream)

I get the impression he's trying to arrange something special for my girls but I'm going in expecting the above list to be what we're served.

Sounds good to my girls - we will enjoy the show, and the feast :cool1:

We dined at the Hoop-de-Doo with our 4 year old GF daughter in Nov 2011. We asked about the GF chicken tenders; the chef brought a HUGE plate of them, along with fresh GF french fries :) She got a GF brownie for desert.

My daughter would LOVE the chicken tenders and fries!

Thanks everyone! :)
