Anyone gone recently? We went about 16 months ago and several of the places, there wasn't anything for DD to eat. (Where Billy Hill and the Hillbillies perform, DH got fried chicken strips and fries but there was nothing on the menu for our daughter).

We did to pizza port a couple times, she loved their GF pizza (I thought it was awful!). Hungry Bear made her a bunless hamburger and I think they made her some fries (not fried with the breaded stuff). I can't remember entirely.

Anyway, I'd love to know what our options are if anyone has any input. She doesn't eat much.

we are not hard to please, but most places we went to had gluten free buns. We got gluten free fries at Hungry Bear and Tomorrowland Terrace. I love that when you ask for GF, they make a whole new batch for you, they come out so fresh and delicious. Tomorrowland Terrace I found very accomodating, they always bring out a chef for us.

There is a handout at City Hall that tells you where and what to get for gluten free, but we were pleasantly surprised. Then again, we didnt try any sit down places.

Every sit down restaurant can make accommodation. But what you need to do to ensure success is to make priority seating reservations and mention it to the CM on the phone, then call a couple of days in advance they often can patch you through to the kitchen. Then make sure you remind the CM who is waiting your table, and often you can ask to speak to the chef for assistance.

Sadly sometimes "gluten" will catch someone new off guard, and sometimes they will tell you there is no options or substitutions. Ask to talk to a manager or the chef directly, this is an option at sit down places. They will do everything possible to accommodate.

But, if you just expect to show up in the park, look at the menu and find something that says Gluten free, or simply gluten free choices, you might run into trouble and be frustrated. A little planning on your part will significantly improve your experience.

Go to Customer Service on Main Street and they will give you a packet filled with everything you can eat that is GF at each restaurant, counter service, and snack stand. There were tons of options! I recently threw the packet away, but boy did I eat well when I was there in December. My favorite was the avacado chicken sandwich on a gf bun at Tomorrowland Terrace. I just wish the corn dogs were GF. :rotfl:

Here's the list they sent me in October... we didn't have any problems at all accomodating GF!

thanks so much for all your help!! if you could list that e-mail address again that would be great; as the one listed isn't linking me. I get a "no such email address found" message.

Also, just a really quick fyi, if you want to eat and watch the Billy's you can bring in food from other places. So, if you wanted to get a salad or a turkey leg you are 100% fine bringing in outside food. Especially if you let them know about the allergy situation. :)

ETA - Still doesn't work. Not sure why. I'll see if I can figure it out later and let you know.

I think this is the link you want - it cut off for some reason when I copied the whole message. Hope this one works....:wizard:

Pick up this book called Triumph Dining. Their site is triumph dining dot com. They have restaurants and food listings for all 50 states so you don't have to monkey around with trying to get good details out of (possibly) clueless wait staff. Excellent resource!

I was diagnosed with Celiacs this week and will be at Disneyland on Thurs, Fri and Sat. I am lactose intolerant also which complicates matters. I know when I have been at Disneyworld I speak to the chefs before every meal and they are wonderful! I am hoping the gluten free buns are also dairy free, but if not I will go without. I will use the tips I've learned in this post on my trip, so I thank you all!

Thanks for the info..I emailed the Wonder as I am going on it to Hawaii
but DL and DCA were next..
thanks so much..

Be sure to speak with your servers! You will likely be able to speak with a chef who will explain your options. I cannot speak for all locations, but I work back of house at a table service location, and we have gluten free options available, including gluten free bread, pasta, and meals that are gluten free to begin with. Cast members preparing your food will take every precaution to make sure it is not contaminated at all!

Enjoy your trips!
