Gluten Free and the Food and Wine Festival

I have recently found out that I can not handle gluten any more. I've posted a few things earlier and thanks to everyone for the replies. My next question is that during my next trip it will be during the food and wine festival. I'm not planning on any special presentations just walking around the world. Is there anything I will be able to eat or do I need to ask the CM something? :confused3:confused3:confused3 I went to the food and wine festival last year, but that was before. Life can certainly change in a year.

Thanks for the help!

We have been told the items for the food and wine booths are prepared ahead of time and therefore not "safe". (Basically they could not modify anything like they can at CS or TS). If they had anything that was normally gluten free, you might be ok.

I'd be curious to hear other's experiences on this too. I'll be there this fall for the Food & Wine Festival. I was thinking it might be easier to do one of the special meals/seminars with dietary restrictions. I wonder if special diets offers information closer to the time?

I had the Taco de Conchinita Pibil (corn tortillas with shredded pork) at the Mexico pavilion this past year. Even though the tortillas were made of corn and I knew that it was risky eating them, but I ate them anyway with no negative consequences. I also had wine and cheese at the Mouse Catch, but that's an easy. I think that was all the festival food that I ate.

When I asked Special Diets about eating at F&W, they sent me the following response:

At the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, the food items are prepared in a very small kitchen and there is a high chance for cross-contamination of the food products at the kiosks. Please speak to a chef or manager at the kiosks and they will be happy to help you. However, there are gluten-free items at Australia, USA, India, Poland, Spain, Argentina, Desserts/Champagne, Chile, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.

It would have been helpful to know which items at these kiosks were GF, but this was all I received.

I plan on going back this October, and I'm hoping to have some good options!

My MIL is a little less sensitive than some, but still has to be real careful. She stays away if she is not sure, but she's pretty savvy. Most Mediterranean food is GF by nature. Most Mexican too. She enjoyed cheese from the cheese stand.

As far as the country list, once you see the offerings, I think it's usually pretty obvious what's GF. Unfortunately it might be a fruit cup or something that's not very interesting. But I think New Zealand had filet bites of some sort.

That's what I remember--it was '08.

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I think I'll try to get a hold of special diets closer to the time and perhaps book a special dining experience. :thumbsup2
