Glow with the show ears

I was hoping I could test these a bit last night before the special WOC, but we didn't get our free ones until 11, right before the show.

Things that haven't been discussed yet is they have an on/off switch, they are really heavy and required the use of bobby pins to stay on my head, and they have replaceable batteries inside (3 AAA). They cannot be embroidered because of the placement of electronics in the hat.

They are on sale several places in DCA (didn't look in DL) for $23.20 plus tax

The hats are actually adjustable. I pulled the strap through the connector (there's a hole) so you can string it through, and even with the strap strung through, it still connects together. I'm not sure if it was intended to be done this way, but it still works. Before I did it, the hat wouldn't even stay on my head.

I wish the hats used the same sensors as the old Magical Moments pins at WDW, because I would LOVE to be able to bring our MM pins to Disneyland in October, and buy some of the new ears there to later wear to WDW!!

There's a special package for annual passholders. It comes with the ears, a lanyard, and a pin. You cannot buy the lanyard or pin separately. The pack is $40 (minus your AP discount).

I'm not sure if this was just done after the special AP WOC showings (or you can still buy them separately) but we were able to buy just the lanyard and pin without the hat (since we had just received the hat during the show).

The lanyard/pin was $14.xx (with AP discount and tax figured in).

They wouldn't let us! So now my friend has two hats :(

Im not seeing any images of the lanyard/pin... does anyone happen to have some handy? :goodvibes

I got my ears last night. I kept wanting to hold them rather than wear them so I could watch them change colors as I walked through Carsland. :rotfl:

They are heavy! I plan to bling mine out or cover them in fabric because I don't actually like the pattern on the hat.

I really want some!!! :headache:

I don't get it, why would it just be advertised as $40 if it's only available to annual passholders, who would use their discount to get it cheaper...

Why wouldn't they advertise it at the price that AP holders get it for, if you need an AP to get it... :confused3

There are actually two different levels of AP discount. Premium (and premiere) pass holders get 20% off merchandise. Everyone else gets 10% off. Before these discounts took effect a little over two years ago, APs below premium didn't get any discount, and premiums got 10% off.

We watched WoC last week and we honestly didn't notice the ears. Not enough people had them on. When I saw some of the videos of the passholders event, I was mightily impressed. After a few weeks, I think more people will wear them and it will be really neat. The $25 price scared us away.

SOOOOO....silly question. Do the ears light up when you aren't at a parade or show? I mean, the kids are going to want these I'm sure, but, not sure I want to spend the money if they only work at a show, do they "glow" all the time, just not change colors?

they blink several colors if your just walking around the park or chilling in your neighborhood. They also will glow with the show to any music. Even the radio at home. You can al;so replace the battery.

THANK YOU for this info. Now I'm sure I will have to buy at least two sets of these! ;)

The hats at the AP party were really fun - wish I had stood more in the back to see the effect more clearly. But 1 word of warniing - I saw quite a few hats going into the lake - guess when people bent over the railing to see the show or the other hats. They are HEAVY and a bit awkward to keep on - definitely will be trying to adjust and use bobby pins. Looking forward to trying them at the tea party.
