They had help along the way.

not really! rosa park did i by herself! she sat on the bus and got arrested right! she made a change in life! if it wasn't for her all the black people would be sitting in the back of the bus! so don't tell me about that! and next thing you are gonna tell me is that people cannot have or achieve a dream by themselves!

Did I ever say that either.

And no, Rosa Parks had to have support from the other black people to boycot the Bus System.

Apparently you need to research that too.

have u ever seen that movie The Day after tomorrow! i'm not saying it's gonna happen! i'm just telling you the diffent views of the people in the movie! did that one scientist try not to warn the vice-president about the big storm that was about to hit. but no he didn't listen. so when it came he saved half the country! it seems some people think some other peoples opionions are very stupid! What if that was you and you knew about it! Are you just gonna sit there and let all those people die?

but tell me who started it! her or was the other black people! it lead to them doing it because she decided to make a change for all those people!
you don't need to research this because, i already know the information! it was her that made the difference! it lead to people doing it also but she was the one that made the Change! Right or wrong?

I would most likely not sacrifice myself for strangers.

And again, that's a movie, don't get your facts out of a movie.

First of all i wasn't using the FACTS! i was using an example. And is pitiful how you are saying they didn't make these changes! And next thing you're aren't gonna tell me is that Dr. Robert Jarvik did not make the artificial heart and change many people lives? Are u gonna tell me No, he had other people help him...well your wrong he did by himself just to help people! No Offense but by your words...i think all you care about is your self. A selfish person!:sad2:

No, she had support.

you're are still not getting my point i know she had help after...but when she chose to sit down in front of that bus.....she made a Changeif she would have not done that people would not have done it then right?

harriet tubman made a change! she was "normal" right!
Martin Luther King made a change!
Rosa Parks made a change!
so don't get me started, telling me that one person can't make a change!
Harriet Tubman had the support of the Underground Railroad and the people who worked it. She had help from plenty of families helping transport people to the northern states and Canada. She didn't do it all on her own.

Martin Luther King Jr. had the support and following of millions and millions of people acrossed the country, and the world.

Rosa Parks had the support of the black community who supported her decision.

not really! rosa park did i by herself! she sat on the bus and got arrested right! she made a change in life! if it wasn't for her all the black people would be sitting in the back of the bus! so don't tell me about that! and next thing you are gonna tell me is that people cannot have or achieve a dream by themselves!
Once again Rosa Parks had the following of the black community. If nobody in the black comminuty supported her, she would be considered a criminal, and not a hero.

The Day After Tomorrow is a horrible example. Quite honestly I don't blame the VP in that movie for doubting the guy. If someone told me that we were going to go from global warming to an ice age in like, a week, I wouldn't believe them either.

And I'm not going to just believe anything I hear because someone said it.

We're not saying they didn't make those changes, we're saying they didn't do it on their own. Sure, they were a pivital person in what they did, but they had help along the way, and probably couldn't have done what they did without the people who helped them.

And Jarvik had plenty of reasearch money coming in. Not to mention, he probably had a lab and tons of equipment made available to him by other people. It's not like he just decided to do it, made one in his garage using things he had himself, then patented it.

you're are still not getting my point i know she had help after...but when she chose to sit down in front of that bus.....she made a Changeif she would have not done that people would not have done it then right?
Like I've said before, if she didn't have the support of her peers, either nobody today would care, or history would remember her very differently.

Actually Jarvik-7 was a collaboration of many researchers that came before him. He also worked with a researcher named Kolff to help create it. So that example you just gave was a bad one. :-\

now who got their information right?
i proved my point! and yes one person can make a change no matter who they are!

People, you guys are not getting the point.....rosa made a change to help people by sitting on the bus right! harriet choose to help those people by guiding them to the north! she helped 300 people! Martin luther king jr. had followers! but he made a change! He made a change and got shot for that! so if i decide to make a change, what are you going to shoot me down for making a difference! if it wasn't for all the decisions and the acts of all the different people all over the world, this world would be really sad! and Dr. robert Jarvik did create the heart! saw a documentary on him! so don't tell me whats right or wrong people1

Jarvik helped create the artificial heart. He didn't do it by himself, he had help from Kalff, which I've already stated. Plus he built onto other researchers previous works to help create it. He didn't just go into a lab all by himself and create this heart.

YOU'RE not getting OUR point.

Sure, they made a difference. We're not denying that. Your saying they did it all on their own though, and we're saying they didn't. You don't seem to be catching onto that though.:confused3

no offense but if you really think of i they really sort of did it on their own! did u see anyone get up on that stage and give the "i had a dream speech". People were to afraid and he decided to take the courage and do it himself right? of course they had a helping hand on the way after the made their decision to do it right? if they hadn't done it where would they be.....? answer that! and if i use exclamation marks it dosen't bother me!!!!!!!!!!!i hope when you see somebody else use them in the state of this matter you won't go crazy over them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be a pain, Martin Luther King didn't do anything; he was a preacher. It was his son, Martin Luther King Jr.(also a preacher), that "made a change".

What really irks me is that those two individuals are the leading figures of the black civil rights movement in the 60s when there was so many people before (and during) that made just as much of an impact. What about Earl Warren? Talk about a change; he's one of the reasons why black people are allowed to attend school with white people.

Also, like everyone else has said, if Rosa hadn't been supported by her community, she would've just been another criminal. It was because of her community more than she that the changes started to occur. It was because of the Montgomery Bus Boycott that blacks were able to sit anywhere they'd like to on the bus. Also, Rosa Parks didn't sit on the front of the bus to help people. She did it because she didn't see the reason she should go to the back of the bus.

I just wish people would expand their knowledge and pick up a book. If you want a couple of amazing books to read, there's Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States, and Eric Foner's Give Me Liberty!: An American History. They're superb.

What about the people who protested with sit-ins in Greensboro? What about the Freedom Riders? What about the thousands of people who were beaten by police clubs, tear gas, dogs, high-powered water hoses in Birmingham just to vote? Yes, Martin Luther King Jr. did build up a lot of courage to give that speech, but you're seriously showing your intellectual limits by saying that everyone else was "afraid". When the registrar asked Crawford (a black teenager in the SNCC that began taking black people to the courthouses in their county to vote) if he was scared, he simply said "no".
