glo sticks don't really bother me much at all. the light is so dim that it only lights up around the area it's at so it's not like it would light up an entire ride. as long as kids don't throw them around i'm fine with them.
it's up to you, really. if you think your child would be more comfortable with one i say go for it. who cares what anyone else thinks?
