My DD11 had to do a poster for school. She decides she wants to use glitter on it. OMG......there is glitter ALL over the house!!! Even the poor cats are walking around glitter on them. I nearly freaked when I walked into the kitchen and saw it......it looked like poor Tink blew up in my kitchen!!! I have swept up about three times so far and have to pull out the vaccum after work. Anyone else ever deal with glitter mess??

Glitter has been banned from our house since DD6 just LOVES to use it! DH said enough when he was in a meeting at work and someone asked him what the sparkly stuff was on his face! :)

Good luck getting rid of it as it seems to stick around forever!

All I can say is I'm glad I work in an elementary school, I won't be looked at funny with glitter that I'm sure is stuck to me already!

I hate glitter!!! And it doesn't end when they are little, either. I went to pick my DD up from college for winter break last month and she had a gift bag that was decorated with glitter, so now I have glitter in my new van. Sure, she'll vacuum it out. :rotfl2:

Add me to the list as another who is not a fan of glitter. My DD8 loves glitter and there is always some on the carpet in her room. If she wants to use it she needs to do it in her room. She once put this glitter stuff in her hair and it took weeks for it to all go away.

I have to kind of laugh. I used glitter with my Sunday School class last week. I kept it well contained and was pleased with how little mess we made. My older son (13) came in after class very briefly. Late that night I was looking at his eye wondering what was weird about it. He had glitter on his eyelid! He must have touched something and rubbed his eye.

The only way to get rid of it is the tear down the house, throw out everything in the house including all clothes, send all family members through a decontamination where they hose everyone off with a fire hose. Move 100 miles away with only the new clothes on your back.

Even then, you will STILL probably fine some of that darn glitter!!!! :teeth:

A few weeks before X-mas DD#1 and I were adding a "tiny" bit of glitter to an ornament she painted. Apparently I had some on my hands and I must've touched her head b/c it's still on her scalp.
She has had at least 25+ baths in the last month and I brush her hair twice a day but the glitter is still shining away!!

sadly, that is very true!

Second worst, glitter make up!

Someone was nice enough to get my girls some glitter play make up.... for the record, that doesnt come up of the vinyl flooring without a fight.

So thats why my preschool teachers put glitter on every project!!! They loved annoying all the moms at home! :rotfl2:

A lot of my christmas ornaments are glittery and I had such a hard time getting it off of my clothes, hands, hair and anything else I touched that day. Some of my christmas presents are doomed to be forever glitter-ized.

:rotfl2:

2 words... GLITTER GLUE!!! If you MUST use glitter... get the GLITTER GLUE in the tube!!! MUCH MUCH MUCH less mess! :rotfl:

Girl Scouts 101!!! :teeth:

DS always did his glitter projects on a shower curtain. It stayed on the shower curtain in the trunk as well, those poor janitors at school!

I got a party invitation once that looked pretty normal...
until I opened it and glitter flew out everywhere!

Every once in awhile I still see a tell-tale glint in a far corner of my desk from that episode!

What was she thinking??

I think we've discovered a Disney secret....

Tinker Belle has her "attitude" because someone played with glitter and she can't get the stuff off!

Thank you all for sharing your glitter stories. I told my dd this morning that she is not to use glitter anymore! I don't think she was happy but the fact that I didn't scream at her helped.
As long as she gets a good grade on it......that's all that really matters.
