Glennbo’s City, Sand, and Savanna PTR - TR Link (pg 73)

How did I miss this????? I"m so in!

I went with my parents a few years ago to visit NYC for Christmas. It was fantastic. We saw Lion King on Broadway and I saw it again the other day in Denver. Told my Dad it just wasn't the same without him snoring through it! :rotfl:

Wicked is a fantastic show. I've got to get tickets for the next time it plays here this spring.

.....I'm going to have to score that as correct!

We're not flying out of NYC, but New York City is the correct city. Now I guess I'll have to post the update. Look for it in in a few minutes.

Great job Rosie!

I won everyone mark it down Rosie WON:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Great! Good to hear. Now, how 'bout that link?

We're planning on a "parents only" trip to the new Hawaiian DVC resort in 2014, which will be a milestone anniversary for us.

Hawaii is paradise. Plain and simple. We can't wait to go back.

Okay, the link to the vacation video is in my signature. Please to enjoy.

Glenn I've done 2 Sr nights at football games already, seen one graduate from college and Michelle will graduate from LSU in December of this year.

Wow, really?

Since Danielle is only 12 I have a very long wait before I'm done.

So is James, so we're on the same track.

Michelle is planning on tying the knot March 2013 so the next year, we will be busy with planning that. It all just seems to go by in a blur.

It really is!

Enjoy Lauren's SR year. My oldest is a boy and didn't really get into the school stuff much. He did spend all 4 years in the band so we did enjoy that. Michelle was very much into school and I had a great time experiencing her SR year. Fun but very expensive. Looking back she says she loved high school, it the best time in her life.

Lauren's had a pretty good time also. Marlene's a freshman and we got her to join the marching band (it was like pulling teeth, no scratch that, it was worse), and she found out she loves it. So she's on her way to a good high school experience too, I think.

How did I miss this????? I"m so in!

I don't know, sorry, but I'm glad you found us. :welcome: Jill. We're not too far along.

Judy got to escort a class's day trip to NYC last spring and saw the Lion King. She texted me from the show that it was awesome.

Sounds good. :thumbsup2

:cheer2: Yep, marked it down. Hey, you could have at least let a couple more wrong answers get posted before you answered to let the drama build a little. ;)

I LOVE IT!!!

So much dancing! Where did Patrick get those dance moves? Oh wait, I saw Dan dancing there too, so that explains it.

Patrick seems like such a happy little guy. Enjoy every second of it!

Thanks for sharing the video.

Joining in! Great start to the PTR!

Great NYC plans! I always think of going to a show but then I look at the price :scared1: That's Wicked in and of itself! ;)

Hi Glenn! Sorry I got away from this PTR a bit there. I'm back and caught up now...

The kids complained about that a little, and apparently Judy promised to take each of them on a little “getaway” vacation for their high school graduations. I say “apparently” because Judy doesn’t remember it as a promise, but the kids certainly took it that way.

Kids are tricky like that. It doesn't help that as we age, we--ahem--forget some of the promises we made several years ago. Or at least, that can happen sometimes, I'm told. :rolleyes1

We let her consider all of the resorts from the New England states down to Virginia, and maybe even North Carolina, if something was really attractive. But her mind was already made up really before she looked at the choices – she wanted to visit New York City.

But I'm sure Delaware was her second choice.

But we talked and decided that it’s always been thought of as a “one parent and one child” thing, and I should probably hang back on the homefront with the other two yayhoos anyway. Plus, Lauren is a fan of “Say Yes to the Dress” and wants to see Kleinfeld’s, and I, well, don’t.

I'm currently running a bachelor pad while my wife and daughter are out in California (they went to the Rose Bowl parade). Pretty sure going on the trip is more fun. Try and stow yourself into the car if you can.

Lauren confessed to Judy that in a way, she wished that I was going with them on the trip, so that I could help them plan! Thanks….I think.

:lmao: We all wonder what our legacy will be...

I went online to look at ticket prices and of course, was shocked. :scared1: I know I should have expected it, but I was hoping for them to be less expensive.

NYC prices? Wait till you get the $20 Big Mac at McDonalds.

Other than that, there’s still planning to be done, such as train transportation to get them there, and maybe an excursion or two, and certainly some restaurants. If you have any recommendations, let me know!

We did Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty last year and enjoyed it. You need reservations if you want to climb to the top of the statue.

All caught up!!

Glad to see the city portion. Growing up on LI we would go into
the city for school. Got to see Evita, the Fantastiks and the museums.

And don't forget: :dancer:

Good one!...I should've worked that joke in there somewhere, so I'm glad you picked up the slack for me.

Hi Glenn! Sorry I got away from this PTR a bit there. I'm back and caught up now...

No problem. I'm sure it didn't take long.

Kids are tricky like that. It doesn't help that as we age, we--ahem--forget some of the promises we made several years ago. Or at least, that can happen sometimes, I'm told. :rolleyes1

Just you wait. You can still outsmart 'em and outrun 'em...I'm getting to where I can't do either.

But I'm sure Delaware was her second choice.

Oh yeah, that's right. I should've put that in the writeup. Her second choice was a spa/chicken farm just outside of Dover.

I'm currently running a bachelor pad while my wife and daughter are out in California (they went to the Rose Bowl parade).

Cheese puffs for dinner!

Pretty sure going on the trip is more fun. Try and stow yourself into the car if you can.

Noted.

:lmao: We all wonder what our legacy will be...

I guess I've gotten a peek at mine.

NYC prices? Wait till you get the $20 Big Mac at McDonalds.

If I'm not going, I think that's what they should get. (Assuming that's the cheapest.)

We did Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty last year and enjoyed it. You need reservations if you want to climb to the top of the statue.

I remember your write-up on that. But isn't it undergoing some kind of refurb right now? I thought that people can't climb it right now. :confused3

Sounds like fun. If I were going, I'd be planning on a couple museums, but I don't think Judy and Lauren are interested in that.

I might have to plan one of those (date trip to NYC) one of these days also. Sounds like a great couple-of-days getaway.

You should, it really is a magical couples weekend. We did it in early December to got to see the city all decked out, I want to go back!!!! We tossed around doing it this winter but just isn't in the financial cards with college tuition and the plane and all. We will definitely do it again.

Wow, and you did it all the way from the other coast....I don't have a good excuse. Okay, here's what I'll do -- I'll let Judy and Lauren scope it out this June and then maybe Judy can show me around on some later occasion. But yeah, we need to get there.

Now that you mention it, I think you may be right. So, um...don't go to the Statue of Liberty. :rotfl2:

now i read all the replies are you posted about the NYC update, and i dont think i saw anywhere that someone said 0 judy sightings in that post....if i am correct then that would be two wins to start for the dan man.

With Dan's spelling, that could actually be an advantage in that game -- no matter what combination of letters he gets, I'm sure it spells something!
half the words marv uses i have never heard of.

Yes, you're right...no one else has mentioned any Judy-counts for that last chapter.

The running total is:

Dan - 2 Judy-sighting wins
Rosie - 1 bonus question win

I'll answer this one first -- Tanya! :welcome:

How's everything? Are you doing well?

I am doing wonderfully well - thanks for asking!!

I haven't seen the Lethal Weapon series past the 2nd one, so you are probably right, but it wasn't the movie I was thinking of....I was thinking of the ending of The Dead Poet's Society.

You obviously watch a better class of movies than I do ;)
They had a Lethal Weapon marathon going on the other day...well the first 3, so then we had to break out our copy of the 4th and totally blow a whole day watching Riggs & Murtagh get "too old for this $#!%" I entertained myself by looking at the Trivia for each movie on the imdb app on my phone, which is how I knew that quote was coming and to listen for it. :rolleyes1

Sweet! But wait, I see that your ticker says "5 months and 2 days", but mine (for the WDW portion) says "5 months and 17 days"....so unless you're taking a mighty long trip, it looks like we'll miss each other. :sad1:

I forgot about that. Like "I've got a bad feeling about this" always crops up in Star Wars movies, the "too old for this..." line always appears in those Lethal Weapon movies.

I entertained myself by looking at the Trivia for each movie on the imdb app on my phone, which is how I knew that quote was coming and to listen for it. :rolleyes1
