I am taking dd for a "girls only" trip in Jan. for the 5k in AK. Still haven't told her that we are going, and I have got to get her to train for it without knowing.

She must have been there early because it was SOOOO busy by lunchtime-evening everywhere! I had never seen september 10-16 so busy this year. We were disappointed and we are now going to start going in January if the free dining keeps up. We loved the free food- but we'd rather pay for it than be in the heat/crowds we encountered. It wasn't as bad as summer- but pretty close.

Man! I'm sorry you didnt get a chance to be at the parks while they were empty. The only time I saw a crowd was Thursday night when people were waiting for Wishes.

So glad I found your new TR, even if it is almost completed.
I found last year's report with you and your mommy through Utahmama's TR.
There is so much I could say, but just wanted to let you know that I read your reports and feel like I am talking with a girlfriend, laughing too loud, getting silly and having a great time.

Hang in there, girl! Judging from how red our maple tree is getting out front, we are getting pretty seriously into fall, so no matter what the temperature is, a good frost can't be that far away, and with it the end of the pollen and stuff.

Hey Glenda, just found your TR yesterday and read a little yesterday, then finished the rest today. I'm so sorry you got sick during your trip. I hate I couldn't meet up with you, but it was really crazy touring with 7 other people. I can't believe I never saw you--we were in the same parks a couple of days. We were planning on going to Fantasmic on 9/11, too, but saw all of the lightning and decided not to chance it with 4 young kids. We never did get to see it this trip, thanks to the weather! Oh my gosh, wasn't it HOT!?! Sounds like January might be a better option next time, if they offer free dining Sounds like you had a GREAT time, even though you were sick. Can't believe you rode TOT--I will NEVER ride this one! I don't freefall. It's just NOT NORMAL! Anyways, hopefully, I can start a TR soon (my first one). Thanks for your great TR!

The Last Day
Fri. 9/14

I woke up this morning, knowing it was time to go. While planning this trip, I was hoping that the trip would've gone well enuf that I wouldn't wake up thanking God that it was finally time to go. (yes that was a run-on sentence, you should be used to it by now!)

Today was also the day I'd been looking forward to for weeks - meeting up with CherokeeMama and her daughter! I hadn't seen her since last year at the Tea!

As some of you MAY remember, I didnt get a chance to meet anyone's families last year. We all scattered after the tea. Also, since we got along so well, it didnt feel like "goodbye", more like "see ya later".

Unfortunantly, CM was too tired to come over. The night before, she and her daughter got in real late thanks to the shuttle buses. It took them a long time to get back to their resort, and they were beat! I'd heard from other guests that week that the buses were not the best. I think it's because September is off season.

I ended up eating breakfast in the room, then dashing off to Downtown Disney. (I HATE that the bus stops at one of the water parks first.) I went to World of Disney first to use my 10% discount since I have a Disney Visa. I'm not sure if you remember my rant from last year, but that store had no women's sized shirts. The large and extra larges looked like they belonged on a high school senior. Whereas in the men's section, they had shirts up to a 4X - yes 4X. So this year, I had no intentions of getting a shirt. Besides, thanks to the DIS, I'd bought some shirts from the Disney Store at the mall for about 5 bucks a piece! So imagine my surprise when - what - XL's and XXL's that fit REAL people!

Now you all know what I look like. I'm not HUGE, I can fit in a seat at the movies, so it shouldnt be that hard to find a shirt. If you dont believe me take a look . . .

Well, this year, there was no need to get an over-priced Disney shirt . Figures Huh? But at an average of $28, I passed. I am glad that Disney did have shirts that fit people like me this year! THANK YOU!!! I'll be back in DECEMBER!!!!

I was able to get some souveniers for everyone at home, and some for me. Then it was over to my next favorite place - The Christmas Shop Can you believe that I came out of there with nothing! Yes! I did not add to my collection of Lenox Disney ornaments! I just looked, ooohed and awwed, and went back to the stop. While on the bus, I Cherokee Mama and she told me that she and her daughter were on the bus LEAVING AKL. They went there for breakfast. I could not believe that after all this time, I was missing her by minutes! She told me that she'd left a package for me that included some cold medicine! Don't you just love her! Thank God! I would be semi-well on the flight home!

The night before, I ran into DISer Carol. She told me that she was able to get a later check out for the next day. So I crossed my fingers and asked if I could get one too. The lady at the counter had to check with housekeeping (crossing fingers, crossing fingers). She came back, and told me that I had until 12:30! Woo! Hoo! It may not seem like a lot of time, but it really worked to my advantage! Thanks Carol! I hope all was well when you returned home! So sorry that you had a bit of drama on your departure day. Hopefully it didnt ruin your trip. I would love to have a meal with you some day. Hopefully you and I can meet up next year.


When I got back to the room, I had just enuf time to pack and call bell services to get my bags. Thankfully, I packed a small bag just in case I bought stuff that couldnt fit in my lugguage. So that's where ALL my souveniers went - and it would be my carry-on!

After saying goodbye to my room . . . (here's another look)

I dashed out to get a second shot at Haunted Mansion. I didnt have that much time cuz I had to be back at the resort by 2:30 to eat lunch, and catch the ME bus.

Once again, I was not allowed to use my fast pass they'd given me from the ride breaking down the night before, nor were they letting annual pass holders to the front of the line. Fortunantly, the line moved rather quickly. 20 mins. later, I was in a doom buggy.

It was really cool being on here again, and nice that I'd chosen this as my last ride of the trip. As we were entering the grave yard scene, I was excited to see everything with the lights off, and WORKING! Then when it got to the part where I'd gotten stuck, I thought "Here it is, this is where I got stuck". When I got to the exact spot, I REALLY looked around to see everything. Cool, I this is- wait - no - it isnt moving- IT ISN'T MOVING!!!!!!!

Plus the Food and Wine Festival will be going on, so that's an added bonus.

Too bad about the HM fastpass! They should have a rule to be nicer with fastpasses! If you get one for a special reason, like the ride broke down, they should always honor it! We found no consistency in the policy during our last trip.. For example a CM at Splash let us exchange LAST YEARS fastpasses for new ones valid right away, but the Thunder CM would not let us ride with fastpasses from earlier in the same day that were given when the ride broke down!

Last Day cont.
Fri. 9/14

With one hour to spare before I had to be back at the resort in time to eat (I had one CS meal left) and meet the ME bus, I decided to try Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom for one last time.

After speed walking to Haunted Mansion, I found that once again, there was a line. I looked at my watch, and decided to try it anyway, only to get stuck at the same EXACT spot as I did the night before! Now let's really think about this: what are the chances, that my doom buggy would stop at that same exact spot. Had I arrived in line after the group of people in front, or behind me, the buggy would've stopped at a different spot. So as I sat there, I realized this and thought, "What does this mean, why am I in the SAME spot again"? Till this day, I STILL don't know the answer! I even thought that maybe it was a sign that I shouldn't have tried to ride - wait - wait - We're Moving!!!!! OH! Thank GOD!!!!!

Insted of continuing to analyze "the stoppage", I enjoyed the rest of the ride. Fortunantly, what I thought the night before was true, there really wasnt much to see after the graveyard! When I got to the part with the Hitch-Hiking ghosts, I made sure to move over so he could have enough space! It was cool riding alone on that part, cuz I could see the ghost really well!

As I exited the ride, I knew it was the end. I did glance to my right, thinking that maybe I could ride Thunder Mountain one last time with my fast pass still burning in my pocket. But I decided not to push it.

While walking towards Main Street, I thought about all the grand plans I made. One of which was to finally look in all the shops on main street, and notice all the coded names on the shops. For a second, I felt as if I failed, but then realized that I'd met up with soooo many DISers, that some of my solo plans had to be tossed aside. So hey, that's not bad at all.

Usually I feel sad leaving main street for the last time. But this time I just couldn't. God had been soooo good to me, to allow me to have such a GREAT time on this solo trip! Also, for the first time, I could say "I'll be back in a few months anyway"! So I looked back at the castle once, smiled, and never looked back!

Yes, I found that Zyrtec really works for me too. However, I just believe that some days are just REALLY bad, and that the medicine can only do but so much.

I agree that they do need to be consistent, especially since this is a vacation destination, and not a local theme park. It takes YEARS for some people to come back and get to ride something they missed.
