Still Day One!
Sun. 9/9
Finally after dinner, Fee and I arrive at my favorite park, EPCOT. Originally, the plan was to take her to MGM to see Fantasmic, but she wanted to see Illuminations insted.
When we got to the park, we had some time before Illuminations. The ride board (I LOVE that thing! Thank you to whomever fought for EPCOT to install it!) said that it was a 10 min wait for Soaring! Great! I was so excited since this is a favorite, AND it would be Fee's first time.
We strap in, the chairs start to raise up, and Fee DOES NOT LIKE IT!

I think the "realness" of it freaked her out. She said she was afraid that she was going to fall out of the seat. I felt soooo sorry for her. Everytime it got to a part I REALLY liked - like the beach, and river in the canyon with the cayaks - she hated it even more

When we got off, she said that it was worse than Everest. Oh well . . .
After Soaring, we walked towards the World Showcase. You know the area close to where the boat shuttle is that takes you to France . . . Well that's it. I found a little bench next to a souvenier shop. While sitting there, 2 women walked up to us and asked if we were a party of 2. I said yes. She said that she had passes to watch Illuminations in a roped off area. She pointed to where some people were linning up, telling us that was the area. She wanted to stay, but was waaayyyy to tired. I thanked her (and probably danced a jig), and ran over and got in line.
This was the first time I'd ever seen it with no one in front of me. It was GREAT!
(Last year I'd just gotten a new camera and was taking TONS of pics and video. I even recorded a good chunk of Illuminations. As a result, I felt like I missed out on alot. Therefore, I did not take pics nor video of it this time, and I took less pics over all. I know, I know, it makes for a less interesting report. But, it made a more enjoyable trip!)
Just as the show was about to end, Fee and I dashed out to beat some of the crowd. By the time we got to Spaceship Earth, it was a bit crowded. Now keep in mind that Fee is just a hair shorter than I am - so we can pretty much take the same size strides. When we hit that crowd, Fee went into TURBO mode!

One step, and she was gone!

For 2 secs, I thought I could keep up with her. Then when I realized that I couldnt, I rememebered that she did have a key to my room, so I might as well let her go.
Fee just happened to look back, and realized she'd left me in her wake, and she cracked up

I told her to go ahead, that I had a whole week ahead of me and could not wear myself out on the first night! Besides, I have realized that I am a slow walker. Miss Fee had mercy on me and slowed down a bit.
When we got to the bus, it wasn't full, and we were able to get seats. When we got back to the resort, I took another shower, put Dreamgirls in the DVD and put Ben Gay with vanishing scent on my feet . . .

Ahhhhh!
Final Thoughts on Day One:
It was a great day, but learned the hard way NOT to use up sooooo much energy so early in my trip. Take it slow, and try to pace yourself! Also, Ben Gay is my bestest friend!
