Glasses allowed on slides at water parks?

We've been to WDW before, but not to the water parks. I'm very nearsighted, and since I like to actually be able to see :thumbsup2 my children while swimming/visiting a water park, I generally wear my glasses on the slides. Some water parks don't want you to do that, however. How does Disney feel about it?

I don't think you can... but I could be wrong... I usually ditch my glasses in the locker and walk around blind!

They make you take them off. I am very nearsighted too. Last year, I took my glasses off and put then in the front of my bathing suit when going down slides. Worked great on the slides you go down on a tube. It didn't work so well on the storm slides (no tube, a body slide). When I hit the water, the force of the water forced the glasses out of my bathing suit and into the pool. The lifeguard called divers, who found my glasses and a few others, plus some watches. My glasses were a little bent, but not really damaged. From now on, no glasses for me. I'm going to make someone hold my hand so I don't get separated since I can't see well enough to find my family if we do get separated.

I too am very nearsighted but alwasy put my glasses in the locker at the water park. So I have to go squinting all around the place and cannot really enjoy the view from the water slides etc. and have to get my face really up close to the maps to find out where I am and where I want to go.

Use your voice to keep in touch with your kids including when they go to the bathroom alonw. (Telecommunications experts use the term "pinging" for one such method.) Accompanying smaller kids into the bathroom at the water park is then less critical since thery have no shirts to get wet on the messy counter. OT: Partly to protest poor sanitary imagineering in theme park restrooms would you as a mother take your little boy's shirt before sending him into the rest room alone? Has Space Mountain ever been shut down and the lights turned on in the middle of the day so someone's glasses could be retrieved?

I always wear glasses on the water slides, both at TL and BB. I bought a strap to wear that keeps them tight to my face. No one ever told me to take them off after they see the strap. I can't remember the name, except I think it had "frog" in it. Sorry.

I can see with my glasses off but everything is so blurry. I'm not sure if your supposed to take them off.

I regularly wear my sunglasses (with a Croakie strap) on the body slides, lazy river and wave pool at TL - i can't remember being asked to take them off, but if i were asked, i'd likely just slide them down around my neck.

So I think you will definitely want a strap for your glasses, but I believe you'll be able to wear them on most of the rides at TL and/or BB.

The one place I think you'd have a problem would be the speed slides - the ones that look like they're straight down, but really aren't.

When we were at TL, I had my two oldest kids, and one of them requested to go to a certain area. So, first we had to go back to our chair where we were storing our towels and clothes, so, I could put on my glasses, to read a map, and figure out where it was he wanted to go. Then, take them off again, and blindly head off in the correct direction.

A strap would of been nice.

The only rides it is REQUIRED to take off your glasses is the body slides (Summit Plummit, Slush Gusher, Humunga Kowabunga). It is RECOMMENDED on the rides but not required.

We wear our glasses on the slides. However, a cast member at TL gave me a good tip one day. He said take your glasses off, fold them up and hold them in your hand right before you go down. You will be way less likely to lose them. Works like a charm! :thumbsup2

I go blind too. Maybe I'll get a strap this year.

I was asked to take mine off as well until I showed them I had them attached with a "Croakie" that I had purchased at either Walmart or Shopko. I'm very nearsighted and would not enjoy myself without wearing my glasses. They had no problem with me leaving them on once they saw the croakie.

 Hi Vicki!

I might have to get me one of these straps... although I'd be worried about ruining my glasses still!

One more thing to add to my shopping list. . I didn't even think about this! I am absolutely blind without my glasses and have to wear them. While I can take them off of the actual slide, there is no way to to without them otherwise. I guess I need to get a strap. We don't do the big slides anyway.

This leads me to another thought. . shoes. Guess I will go start a new thread.
