My DM would like to do the glass bottom boat excursion at Castaway Cay. I have read mixed reviews on this type of excurion. We are traveling with 14 people, DS9, DS7, DD4 and 2 friends 7 and 4. Can they handle the 1 1/2 hour trip and is it worth trying - this is our first cruise. :jumping4:

We did the Glass Bottom Boat excursion this past November when we were on the 4 day Wonder. We were very disappointed. You had to stand the entire time, and the glass bottom was not very clear. We were unaware of the standing part and I had taken a senior with me who if they had known they would have to stand, would not have gone on it. I do think that the standing part does need to be mentioned on the description of the excursion. It took about 20 minutes to get to where they stop to show you the fish, coral etc and you stay about 20 minutes and then 20 minutes back. I know it says 1 1/2 hours but ours was 1 hour. The best part of this excursion for us was a little boy about 6 or 7 that was beside us that wanted to see a shark, so we spent a lot of time "helping" him try to find a shark. We didn't find one but it sure made the trip more fun. So for our $50 (2 @ $25) we saw 3 types of fish, and some coral. This type of excursion might interest you but for us, we felt it was a waste of $50.

We were considering this as well... sounds like I might need to reconsider!

We're rethinking it too but it's the only adventure available for our family (we have a 4 year old). Beach play is fun but I think we'll want to do something else too while on the island.
