The stomach bug going around down there is real and it is awlful. We had 14 people staying between POP and WL. Every single one of us got sick in the span of our 8 day trip. They were the same symptoms as Norwalk. I am a nurse and really germ crazy and I still got it. There were many people in our hotel complaining. Hurling in the bushes because they could not get back to the room fast enough. Overall just gross. I really felt bad for the housekeepers. I must have met literally 50 people who were sick at POP the week we were there. So it is a good thing you threw that out there. Bring the Clorox wipes it is the only thing that will kill it.

It's nice to hear this before I leave for WDW in 27 days to spend 7 months there on the College Program.  Looks like I'll be packing extra of Lysol, Purell, and Clorox wipes. Thanks for the heads up.

At least people are more forwarned now -thanks to all the posts and the article/blog.

My DS6 got it on our departure day, and I had no clue it was going around. We had been on DCL a few days previously and they are so vigilent about sanitation there, and nobody got sick, but then back on land whammo - must have got it from a park or the resort. I just felt so bad because it wasn't a day where he could lay low and try to feel better - we had to keep moving on DME and flight before we could get home to bed. Don't wish that on anyone. I don't think there is totally a way to prevent it will all the people that are down there, but just keep it in mind to try to be cautionary about handwashing etc etc and hope for the best (me and DH never got anything). Everyone stay healthy and enjoy your trips!!

Getting a stomach virus is never any fun, but getting it away from home is a hundred times worse! A few years ago I was hit with it during a visit to Universal -- I had to stay in the hotel room for three days. It was awful!

I always bring colrox wipes, as soon as i get in the room, I wash down the door handles, light switches, toilet flush, sink handles, CLICKER, back of the chairs... etc. anything that is "touched" There is no way housekeeping does all that, so I have to :)

SO far, sooo good!

Our party just got hit with it 2 weeks ago. DH was first, then it hit a friend of ours staying with us and his daughter. Don't know how the rest of us didn't get it! It certainly looks horrible to go through. I've been counting my blessings that I was spared! :worship:

Wow, how scary. I'd rather have almost anything than a nasty stomach sickness. Two years ago my nephew got sick and was out a day with a stomach bug on our Disney trip. Not the same virus, but still awful!

We leave for the cruise in 4 days, then WDW Jan 4-8.
Is it still running rampant- or is the worst over???
Has Mousekeeping stepped up their cleaning efforts?

I'll pack the Clorox wipes (in fact, I believe I have some in my Owner's Locker already. I'll check my inventory)- and extra hand sanitizer- then we'll hope for the best!!

When we were at Saratoga Springs Resort during Mousefest, we decided to visit the pool. As we approached the pool, we noticed lifeguards and EMS surrounding a little boy who was violently ill. I had a weird feeling it was this virus, but just shrugged it off to too much junk food and sun.

This virus is awful. My husband and I have had it twice and let me tell you... it does not creep up on you like a cold. This thing hits you like a ton of bricks, then suddenly stops within 24 hours. The next 24 hours, I think, is the worst. You are completely useless, exhausted, and your bones feel like jelly.

Scary, that there is a chance that this virus is possibly going around. A indoor waterpark near us had to close for a couple of days after this virus was rumored to have infected guests of the park and hotel.
