Glad I Bought Flights and Car Rental Few Weeks Back

I purchase flights to MCO (3) from YYZ on Canjet for $1100 including taxes in mid January.
I rented a car for 8 days from Avis for $446 (includes tank of gas and taxes).
A bit pricey I thought,but my usual rental companies (Alamo and National) were up in the $600 range.

I looked at the booking websites yesterday and for the same dates the flights were $2990.......and the car rental (whether it be Avis,Alamo or National) was in the $1000 range !

Wow !.....am I glad a I booked early.

This is for the week preceding and through Easter Monday.

Yesterday, I rented a Dodge Charger from Dollar Rent a Car (MCO) for 9 nights in March for $228 total from Expedia.ca.

I just realized you booked for April. There is a big difference in prices!

Yep. I have my Aug car rental booked with Budget from the Costco web site. I usually book with Alamo, but their prices for the same time period were several hundred $ more
Also have my air, flying out of Seattle.

But I'm going to NY in June, have to fly out of YVR, and haven't liked the prices, so I have been waiting to see if they'll go down. Guess I shoulda booked.
I can't believe the price diff. from YVR & Seattle. Almost double to fly from Canada.

Last week there was a, sort of, mass purge on rentals. It looked to me like Alamo had way to much inventory for mid March. The prices were as low as $85 for an economy for 7 days and that's with no codes or coupons. I really lucked out on that one...booked a new ressie and got a mid size used a code and coupon...new grand total $92 US. I thought the other ressi that I had was pretty decent considering it's March Break. It was going to be $175 US all in.

Anyway, those prices were there on and off for a couple of days. It appeared to be cheaper in the late evening. Now those same prices are around $440 plus taxes and the coupon is not being accepted.

We booked the same flight at the same low price.I checked just a couple of days later and it was $3800 for our dates. So glad I booked when I did!!! We are going the Thursday before Easter and returning Easter Monday!
