Has anyone stayed at GKTW part of their wish trip when it was full some of the days? We are limited on when we can go and GKTW is full part of the time. First I was told we could stay at a disney resort for those days and GKTW when it was available. That was ok. Friday, I was told we can not stay at GKTW part of the time-it is all or none. But, all isn't a choice, unfortunately. I am hoping my son will get to experience staying at GKTW if only for a couple days. I seem to remember people talking about splitting their trip. I was also told we would have all the benefits of GKTW if we can't stay there such as tickets and passport for kids to amusement parks. Any experience with that?
Thanks so much.

Hi. I'm in Howard County, also. Anyway, I can only answer one part of your question, and our trip was in 2002. I'm sure someone that has visited more recently will post soon.
We stayed at the Animal Kingdom during our trip, as GKTW was full. We did have use of all of the facilities at GKTW. We went there straight from the airport for an orientation and to pick up all of our passes, etc. We were told that we were welcome back at any time for anything we would need.
I hope this helps, but again that was 5 years ago.
Have a wonderful trip and I hope your child enjoys his/her wish.

ss0414,
Did your child get the world passport for kids when they checked out of GKTW?

Take at least one day to spend at GKTW. You can relax. Check out their website, contact them if you want to and tell them your situation. Maybe they'll have good suggestions. Karen

In all honesty, I'm not even sure what the world passport for kids is. Our wish was over 5 years ago....I do remember the really great ice cream shop, the beautiful grounds and the many gifts they gave my children. Also, the staff was available for our needs at anytime, day or night. Again, I'm hoping that someone who has been on a more recent trip can give you more advice.
Take care and I wish you the best for your trip.

We went this past June. We were on the waitlist for part of the time and would have been able to go to GKTW for the second half of the trip. Fortunately for us, about two weeks prior to our trip there was an opening and we were able to stay the entire week at GKTW. We were told that if there had been no openings at all, we would have still gotten all the benefits of GKTW even without being able to stay. We went with MAW.

I am so excited about this world passport we have heard about. We wanted to show our daughter many things this year. I wanted her to see flowers, gardens, the ocean, etc. Our entire family needed to have some fun because it's basically been one medical crisis after another for seven years. I'm looking forward to dd getting to/keeping into remission and we could catch up on our house repairs, and if we had free tickets to things, we could have fun too. We really need fun as a family for the children to develop healthy emotionally. I don't always want them remembering a life full of medical crisis. Dh might be taking a pay cut so dd can get her state ins. back. This trip is the best thing that has ever happened to us. Ok...I am going to cry now.

The Village is a dream come true itself! It is incredible, you will have a wonderful time!:goodvibes

Has anyone been on the waiting list when GKTW was full? Did you end up staying there?

Those who are lodged at hotels because GKTW is full will still be able to do everything the Village has to offer those who stay there, except for sleeping there, as far as I know.

My philosophy about hotels/ motels has always been, "As long as the bed is comfortable, and the room is clean and quiet, and not too hot or too cold, and there are no bugs.... who cares where you sleep, because you are asleep when sleeping and don't notice much at that time." I will confess though, that the whirlpool tub was a big deal to me.
